Very interesting. I was going to comment about this, but more oriented toward porn (my area of expertise) I was browsing for japanese titles the other day and while boob jobs seem to be the rule in american pr0n, eyelid surgery seems to be the one in japan pr0n.

A clear example (SPOILER just for gentlemen but since japs censor sexual organs there's not too much diference I guess):
