I find this hard to believe for any place in Spain:

"Another theory suggests that Catalunya (Latin Gathia Launia) derives from the name Gothia (or Gauthia), "Land of the Goths"
The origin of the name of Catalonia is unknown. One thing's for sure: Catalunya (Catalonia) comes from catalĂ* (Catalan), not the other way round.
