If I grew up in France would I have the same opportunities to have the life style I do now, as compared to America, looking like I do.

The answer is "No".

People who look like me in France are numerous but don't have the power and status in the government, in business, in education, or any facet of society (but sports, as you mentioned) as people who look like me in America.
