Definitely Finnish soldiers in WW2.

The Winter War Finland and Russia
Pretty lame to compare that to armies of leaders such as Gengis Khan and Timur Lenk.

Finland did not had any empire (unlike Sweden), and winter war was only within a few years.

Soviet wasn't the most advanced anyway back then. And it was a defence-war from the finnish (with some helpe from swedes) side.

Good soldiers are people who are in a nation that again and again both wins war and expand their territory and are feared by its neighbours and often all people of their continent.

Otherwise best soldiers are those who can endure extreme conditions, weather/hunger/harsh environment.
