I agree, but it's not for the same reason. China has existed for thousands of years. The EU is a botched attempt at creating a United States of Europe and incorporate many cultures that are significantly different under a single umbrella. The EEC should have been left alone, but men are fallible and government always attempts to increase its power.

Poles and Swedes may have had the same rulers in the past (under the Vasa) but they couldn't be more different, politically, linguistically, or spiritually.
