I've just run across a bizarre provision in an apartment lease: "Under no circumstances shall rent be paid in case and cash shall not be considered to proper tender."

This isn't an issue in this case, and no one's brought it up. --but has anyone ever seen a privision like this before?? I know I haven't. It says on greenbacks: "Legal tender for all debts, public and private." How can a creditor say, "You can't pay me in cash." Some businesses, such as law firms who handle client funds, aren't permitted to accept cash due to money laundering and/or tax avoidance laws.
