I completely agree with you. I only try new things when the Greek ladies are visiting me and urging me to try them. I trust them a lot, because they have lived through hard times where the only food they had to eat was whatever was growing wild near their homes. I personally would never try anything new on my own, because I know it can be dangerous. Especially not 'shrooms!
