Default Real % of white hispanics in the us
What do you guys think is the real percentage of white and offwhitish hispanics in the US. The census says that white hispanics are 50% of all hispanics but I kind of don't believe that? I ask guys living in the states, more or less to know.

How frequent are Hispanics like these

I live in an area with a high Mexican population. I haven't seen many that look like pic 1 and 4. The type in the 3rd pic is more common but still a minority, definitely less than 50%.

Most of the Hispanics in my area look either Mestizo or mostly Amerindian. Some do look more Castizo and of course there are a lot I see who look triracial.

In Latin America total, I'd guess somewhere around 20-25%. Just a wild guess.

Also, Amy Rodriguez is half Hispanic (Cuban).

I would like to hear what % of self-reported hispanics are of triracial or pred/considerable african ancestry?

They would visually make appear the african american population even larger, considering most white americans asociate hispanics with either amerindians, mixed people in varios degreed and med looking people.

white hispanics in america I would guess are around 5% of the total latino community in the US. At highest 10%.

They are something I don't understand with the term is hispanic, for example. A brazilian of 100% german origine , his family is in america since two century , he is 100% ethnic german but assimilited of brazilian culture . If he immigrate in Usa .

He would be consider hispanic ? in the american census.

Those kind of thing i don't consider with the term hispanic. Why white hispanic aren't just consider white american .

hispanic is probably regarded as an ethno-culturally label rather than a solely ethnic term. Thats why race census in the US doesnt make any cense.

From what I've seen in So Cal, about 20% of Mexican-Americans either look Off-White or White. And the majority of hispanics in South Florida are very White.

It's hard to get an exact number because the standards for White in Latin America is different from the US.

@Americans
Are you really sure that most Amerindian looking latinos in the US are Mexicans?
Can you differenciate between Mexicans and Central Americans like Salvadorians or Ecuadorians?

Would a white Mexican who looks like Penelope Cruz be considered white in the US?
because I don't know but I have the impression that many predominally white mexicans who look sterotypically Mediterranian would be assumed to be mixed and non-white...Am I right?

In Miami or NYC I was seen a white hispanic. My adolescence best friend from Venezuela too. When minorities clasehd racialy we would be called crackers by blacks and we would seldomly if ever clash with wasps more often we would be called good looking hispanics if that prhase indicates something as a distinction from the wasp poit of view. (I´ll get a pic of my venezuelan buddy when i get back to my pc).

I would say 1 to 2 at most in every 4 hispanics in the US is White or vastly pred MEd in pheno (if you consider me as equivalent to italians) but you have to look at where it´s the high Socio Economic Status migration like there is a lot to Miami and NYC less in the west coast I believe.

Miami got tons of white Cubans, white Colombians, white Venezuelans, white PRs, and I've also met white Dominicans. Growing up I had these ignorant ass white Colombian Americans (who aint know sh*t bou Colombia) tell me I was "too dark" to be Colombian, that I had to be Dominican. Yeah, cause only Dominicans can be dark skinned and speak Spanish.

Like many have already said, I think the only place in the US where 50% of the hispanics are white is Florida. That's all.

most mexicans from the east coast are very amerindian looking. they blend in very good with salvis and ecuadorans. most come from southern mexico, unlike the once from the west coast were most of them look very mestizo or white and come from northern mexico..

I think in the US, the term hispanic only applies to spanish speaking, latin americans. Not sure if that applies to brazilians. Although, the average american will probably think Brazil speaks spanish. But i'm not sure if they would think "hispanic" after hearing the language though.

I don't think most Americans can differentiate Spanish from Portuguese

I have the impression that Brazilians asimilate more easilly than Hispanics in America
maybe because most Brazlians are white(many are even of recent german ancestry) or Afram looking pardos(light, medium or very dark) I think Americans asociate Hispanic with mestizos

Brazilians from what I've seen get put in their own category.
