Default What are the most common names in your country/region?
I live in the sub-urbs just north of Los Angeles and the most common names here are :
Mike(Michael)
Kevin
Chris

What are some of the most common names (both male & female) in your country and/or region? You can include surnames as well, that'd be a little interesting detail. Share.

I knew this was possible but I wanted to hear the opinion and experiences of the members on here. I'm sure it varies from region to region which is why for example I'd be interested to hear your input about your region Tennessee for example in comparison to mine. Also, a lot of the members here aren't American which is why I thought it would be interesting for them to share. Thanks though.

Apparently the most common surnames in Canada are Roy, Gagnon, and Tremblay.

These are French names, I figured the most common names would be English ones since they are the majority.

But a lot of English people have French names, and French people English names.

Most common names:
male
Michael
Joseph
Anthony

female
Jennifer
Michelle
Maria/Marie/Mary
These names were so common, when I was a kid the teacher would add the last name initial, but you could still end up with five "Michelle M's" in the classroom, so I would remember who was who (at recess and after school) by their Sun Sign and characteristics, such as "Michelle M Scorpio tall" versus "Michelle M Scorpio short", and I taught that to some of my classmates.

In the teen years, students took to calling each other by their surnames, if they had a unique surname, because if you shouted "Anthony" in the hallway or schoolyard, dozens of boys would turn around.
