there seems to be australians aboriginals who look a little more new guinean than the pictures above.
The guy on the right looks south asian to me.  here's a "japanese" ainu for comparison  its amazing to me that some anthropologists thought the ainu were caucosiods and even connected them to the kennwick man. I dont see it at all. |

Not all Ainu look like that though. Some look quite a bit like Native Americans. They probably had a fair amount of gene flow from Siberia before the arrival of rice farming.

you can still see the difference that Jomon era made on the japanese.
even in japanese many times removed from the ainu or jomon.   if this guy is only half japanese and half chinese and he still has a very strong jomon look, then i can only imagine what happened people like the Jomon on the Asian mainland. the chinese must have completely wiped them off the face of the earth. One just doesn't see these types of admixted features on the mainland very often. Its only found just in polynesians, south east asians and south asians and the japanese to a lessor degree. One can only wonder. |

Yeah, it's there in Japanese. You can see it with genetics and frequency of Y-DNA D2 in Japan, a third of the population. I have around 1.18% Australasian in World9. Assuming that is real then my grandmother passed it to me and probably had around 5%. She was from Osaka which you would expect to be completely saturated with mainland gene flow. It would be nice if someone would do some autosomal DNA tests on tribal Ainu while they still exist.
