Quite a ridiculous ruling; it's forbidden in countries that don't use it anyway, but legal in the country that uses it.
Usage of snus skyrocketed after it became illegal to sell..

Some EU dicks are not going to fucking tell me what I can or cant use!

Soon it will be more popular than pizza.

Karhun, that's human's mentality.

Our swedish governments IRPED law has absolutley not decreased the downloading here.

Why does EU forbids snus anyway, as its prolly healthier than smoke-tobacco (and does not damage other people or building interiors)?

---------- Post added 2010-10-18 at 14:39 ----------

4,4 percent of Finland's population (233 183 out of 5 351 427) was born outside the country in 2009, if you take second generations into account, it's more.

And I wouldn't include "Finlandsswedes" in the population, because most of them are assimilated apart from Ålanders, some Ostrobothnians and a few Svekomans.

Russia is worst, only 78 % or something are ethnic russians there (less Russian than Sweden is Swedish that's said).

That's a good queston - why prohibit one and not the other? Too many smokers to deal with, perhaps? Tobacco industry? (Wouldn't be too hard to switch products though)

Finland is going hard against the countries smokers now.

http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2010/...g-finland.html

Finland's government aims to phase out smoking completely within the next 30 years.
"This new law proposal says, according to paragraph one, that we will get rid of smoking once and for all in Finland," said Ilkka Oksala, the Finnish state secretary of health. •By the spring, smokers in Finland will only be able to buy tobacco by asking for cigarettes from under the counter.
•Tobacco vending machines are also being phased out over the next three years.
•It will be illegal to smoke in a car carrying passengers under the age of 18 Many ex-smokers starts to use snus instead. But if that is illegal? What have finnish authorities thought of?? To give all people nicotine chewing gums instead??

About one in five Finns smoke Nothing at all compared to most European countries.

Jam, can you still smoke indoors in clubs and restaurants in Denmark?

Nope, you can't. It's actually very annoying, because the result is that people stand outside of pubs and smoke, and they throw the butts on the side walk (pavement) - which means the inner city is really dirty just because of this.
I think it should be up to the pubs individually, there could be non smoking pubs and smoking pubs, free choice. But it has been made illegal now.

In Sweden you can order red bull at clubs and bars, but not in Norway because that combination is illegal.

I've also heard that Denmark have high taxes on things containing much sugar.

Norway has the most stupid rules in Nordic countries, Denmark the least (at least you are known for that).

Because of different levels of alcohol taxes, Helsingör earns money from alcohol-loving swedes, just as Strömstad (swedish west coast) earns money from alcohol-loving Norwegians.

The best place in Sweden to sell alcohol is somewhere close to the norwegian border.

Thank goodness that Finland is the most conservative especially with immigrants.

At my school snus is very popular way to make money. Some have earned a lot of money for selling snus.

Finland also has a very strong pro-gun, pro-tobacco culture.

But then again that goes hand in hand with their astronomical suicide rate. So, yeah. Finland is definitely more traditional than the Scandinavians are.
Finland has a relatively high suicide rate compared to other Nordic countries for sure. but I wouldn't call it astronomical though. As if it would be exceptional. For 100 000 persons, there are about 18 suicide cases per year in Finland whereas in Lithuania there are over 31. If you look at the bottom of the list, there are countries like Barbados, Iran and Egypt. It says also that Greece has only 3,0 suicides per 100 000 inhabitants. It's obvious these lists aren't reliable because it depends also on the officials. In many (catholic and islamic) countries the cause of death will easily be recorded as something else than suicide in order to soften the shock of the next of kins. This is probably true in the South European developing countries, too. Not least in those Mediterranian islands with African and Arab admixture.

Yes and until recently it was sold openly to anyone anywhere. Now in many stores they have a 18+ policy. Don't know if its law enforced. Kids been drinking that stuff a decade around here. I used to ride my bicycle 10 km from my village to buy some Halmstad Cider when I was a kid. Sure could have used a redbull for the ride.
I've also heard that Denmark have high taxes on things containing much sugar.
Don't we have the same thing? Sugar, gas, nicotine all very expensive.

I sometimes use SNUS only for medical purposes (it makes you sneeze like a motherfucker and helps to clean your nose).

I can't stand snus. I tried it, but I think it's really nasty. (And I don't like to see people with snus in the mouth, it's dirty! ). It's a good way to get oral cancer!

A conservative Nordic country is still like a freewheeling hippie community compared to the rest of the world.

The only thing I can think of which is worse is when women use snus.

Many traffic "accidents" are infact planned suicides, and the traffic accident figures are high for Mediterranean countries.

Just a silly question, how exactly does a motherfucker sneeze?
