Yea there is when you're not identifiably dark or light.

Yep. I don't consider myself light or dark. I'm just in between, so I'm medium-toned, or brown skinned.

Interesting I agreed with most of it except I wouldnt call Beyonce or Chris Brown medium I'd call them light.

BEYONCE ALICIA LOOK QUITE SIMILAR

HILL HARPER & HOLLY WOULD BE MEDIUM TO ME

Anything Nia Long and darker is dark skinned to me

True though a lot of black folks call anyone caramel skinned/lighter brown or a shade lighter than usher light skinned…lol

Yeah. I've been called light skinned before, but I don't think that's right at all. Lol! I also think like Beyonce, I can look lighter or darker depending on the time of year and lighting, but I still consider myself medium, and her medium toned as well.

Nice gradient, Its rather interesting that Beyonce is seen as medium by some. or do you just mean that picture?

The girl is quite fair to me, but its cool to see what others perceive

she's on the lighter side of the medium.. i think that photo is a bit saturated. by medium i mean neither dark or light, which is what most people would probably fall under. average basically. beyonce is light but she's not the lightest.

Wouldn't most mulattos be considered medium skin? I'm assuming mulattos to be around 50/50 Caucasian and SSA, and that most mulattos would express a phenotype somewhere inbetween the two parents.

I could see how someone could perceive her as on the lighter side of medium
Do you still think so in Less Dramatic lighting

Also who would be on the darker side of medium to you?

Probably, but again it's all subjective (on what you consider medium vs. light or dark) and like everyone else, mulattos can be either light, medium or darker skinned since skin tone is basically a crap shoot.

Well most "mulattos" at least in the black community fall under light skinned , keep in mind many black folks (not all or even most) consider Jada pinkett light skinned. In general I think there are norms and categories but the less distinct you are skin tone wise the more subjecive it becomes.

JADA PINKETT

Nigerian actress Monalisa Chinda(igbo) as extreme fair or lightskinned by igbo standards.

Pat utomi lightskinn but more color than Monalisa obviously, these people (both the male and female above)are referred to sometimes as YELLOW PAW PAW, well expression i hear from my father family again, however white people nearly across Nigeria is referred to as Oyibos, period!

I heard some of my father family called people with this color (above) a beautiful tan in other words, not extreme light nor dark, but a perfect tan. A ideal color or perfect color

not dark but more of a beautiful chocolate color.

This is darkskinned but some people may call him chocolate.

This is extremely dark skinn, this is according to my father family and what i used to hear. However, it is not in a negative connotation as i observe in comparison to New world blacks. All the people i used are Africans mainly from Nigeria, and the last guy is a Southern Sudanese model, Also none is mixed race they are all straight up Africans.

This is my opinion here or what i grew up hearing in reference to skin color descriptions.
