Default What region has contributed more to the World?
In your opinion, what region of the world has made the most contributions to civilization? Explain why.

  • Europe
  • Asia (including the Middle East, but not Egypt)
  • Africa (including Egypt)
  • Americas
  • Oceania

Africa,. There is evidence of Artistic and cognitive ability that goes back 100kya in South Africa.
Africa also contributed to the actual peopling of the planet. Coming closer to our time there is the Afro-Asiatic language who speakers migrated into the Levant. This family is one of which is responsible for the Abrahamic religions and the Egyptian cults who arguable form the base of the Abrahamic religions. Even closer to our days you have slave labor that helped finance the industrial revolutions.

It would be worth asking not only who contributed most, but who destroyed most too.

That would make for a good discussion BUT, lets focus on the topic, which is about the possitive contributions.

That so called art doesnt compare with its european counterparts.

Africa also contributed to the actual peopling of the planet. People kept evolving after they left Africa.

Coming closer to our time there is the Afro-Asiatic language who speakers migrated into the Levant. Indo-European languages are much more important than Afro-Asiatic languages.

Even closer to our days you have slave labor that helped finance the industrial revolutions. The industrial revolution took place in England, where there were few if any slaves. African slaves were not used in Europe at all. The North Colonies of the U.S (the industrial U.S of that time) had abolished slavery.

All in all, Africa has contributed the least to humankind. Science, technology, arts, economics, politics, sports, etc are all dominated by europeans and their descendants, followed by Asians.

Past

Asia (Dawn of civilization)

&

Europe (Western civilization)

Present

America, no nation in all time has risen as fast in such short a time as America. Its nothing short of astonishing that the nation was able to become top dog in most industries it tried and the amount of inventions, scientific, musical, & medical contributions that came out of the nation in such a short existence. America is far younger than a nation such as Germany but in its short time America has out invented Germany.

- There are no people in Europe 100,000 years ago. Europe has no "counterpart" in much of human pre-history.
- Modern Humans are "Fully evolved"..not sure where you are going with this.

- As for everything else....the fact that you dont know about it says something about you, not Africa. The script that you are using to type right now roots from Afro-Asiatic scrips. You are interpreting accomplishments off maybe that last 500 years. Before that Africa was top shit for nearly 4-5000 years.
Many of the major religions come from Afro Asiatic speakers. When looking at "Continents" Europe......especially Western Europe was the last area to even enter the arena of "Civilization". I dont study Europe too much but I am not sure they even independently founded agriculture.

Where is the african science, art, technology, sports, economic and political theories is what I want to know.

There are many sites that lists inventions by region. Lets see those European vs African inventions roll in, shall we?

You will lose by first round K.O.

Obviously Europe. I would vote the Americas but only as an extension of Europe via colonialism. Prior to that the Americas gave the world nothing. Syphilis I guess.

In the past, Africa obviously. Ancient Egyptian civilization is the most important human civilization in history, with out it much of middle east and europe would have not developed the way they did. Though it can be argued China developed independently

In modern age (last 500 years) obviously Europe and North America, but i think the next 500 years belong to Asia

Don't the scripts we are using right now have roots in the middle east? The people who invented them were probabl West Asian genetically.

I will vote Asia. West Asian+South Asian+East Asian civilizations combine for an impressive body of work.

I'm pretty sure that NE civilizations are older than Egypt.

Ancient Egypt is the most overrated civilization in history. Plus, Mesopotamian civilizations are older.

West Asia contributed a lot more ( if we consider the IVC as a West Asian derivative then it is not even close).

The people who invented modern writing scripts were a mostly West Asian autosomally(as opposed to African or Sw Asian) weren't they? The Phoenicians and Aramaic script inventors certainly were.
