Default Peoples who like to claim
Does where you live peoples like claim some origin, who are not true ?

I noticed where I live, peoples like claim they have an black ancestor . Most of the time , it's a fake. Some years ago, it's was hype stuff, to claim to be part polish , or part italian, or part spanish (For many peoples in Northern France it's true, but for the most it's a fake) . I noticed peoples here in france, like claim the "hype nationality" in origin , like (brazilian, italian, russian, swedish, american...) most of the time, that sound so fake, because France never has many contact with these countries.
I noticed many of peoples in Northern France, have a german , a polish , or a portuguese greatparents , but most of the times peoples don't say that, because it's not "cool", except "polish" , because "be polish" was the hype thing, 5 years ago.

I heard in Usa, peoples like claim they are part cherokee, or choctaw, sometimes black.
In Uk, it's african and Indian. But never pakistanese
In Australia, aboriginal (but peoples say after it's isn't true, because they realise, it's not really a "hype" stuff to be part aboriginal)

So. In your country , what are they "hype ethnic" and "hype nationalities" , peoples like claim ? and most of the times , it's a bullshit

Very true. In the US, just about every mixed European person claims to have some Amerind heritage.

Many Jews who feel a stigma associated to their ancestry claim to be mixed, even when they aren't.

Howard Stern, for instance, used to claim on the radio every day that he was only half Jewish. He's since admitted that it wasn't true.

In Italy, you find the occasional Romanian faker who tries to pass as Italian.

Lots latinos claim turkish or spanish or jewish origins. My dad claims all those and british LOL

Many americans do claim to be Native American and it annoys me when a Blonde Haired Blue Eyed girl claims to be related to native american when she does not even understand the culture.

There is an old joke.

An Argentine is a Spanish speaking Italian who dresses like a Frenchmen and think's he's British.

It's considered interesting/cool to be part Irish round here. Of course for middle class liberal types anything ethnic is good, so if they can find the tiniest trace of something non-British in them then they'll use it to define themselves as genetically more cosmopolitan than their monoracial friends.

Like that toff twat Boris Johnson, who has like a Turkish Great-grandparent and uses it to show his 'Muslim roots' for votes in elections.

White people here in the U.S. always claim Native American or Russian ancestry. And, the Mexicans/Hispanics always try to claim to be mostly Spanish, when they have strong Amerind features.

I can't see why it would annoy you, she may well be 1/16th or 1/32nd American Indian and be a White, blonde haired blue eyed girl. I suppose if she is trying to suggest she belongs to that group then that's a different matter.

Yeah, he claims that he's a Jew as well. He basically used these dual roots to ingratiate himself with the Muslims and Jews as part of his Mayoral campaign a couple of years ago.

Whereas David Cameron and Nick Clegg both have exotic roots, Cameron is part Scots, part Jewish and part something else (German if I recall) and Clegg's got Russian and something else, but neither of them have exploited it in the way Boris Johnson has his roots.

Bottom line, if you're not at least 1/4 something shut up about it when you're discussing your identity, unless it's plainly obvious (e.g. 1/4 Black and 3/4 White).

Very common for people to claim to be part Cherokee without proof where I live.

French people by and large hate blacks, and blacks in France are generally street cleaners or whatever, so I have no idea why they would try and claim black ancestry, it's like a Romanian claiming Roma ancestry.

haha no. That depend where you live, in southern france yes, but not in Northern France.

Peoples, in Northern France, especially Lille area, are like obssessed by black culture. Rap, African music,...

The last eurovision singer was a congolese singer who sing in african style.

And in France, we have the highest rate of interrational mariage Black/White in Europe.

I think, you're not French, and you use stereotypes against France.

Well, 3 of my cousins are married to whites. One a female cousin has a son with a white British guy and their boy looks like a white Syryan or Lebanese in phenotype. Her brother just married a British-Italian woman.

Aother cousin from a different family has two children with a white British woman and their two children look Southern European in phenotype. But both cousins with children are now divorced.

Oh and that reminds me, Indians sometimes like to claim Afghan, Central Asian/Caucasian or Arab heritage.

Russian, really ?
That surprise me. I didn't know it's could be hype in USA, to be russian.

I saw in many countries, peoples like claim their german roots. It's not the same in France. Because in french mentalities, germans are seen like nazi :S (dumb mentality)

Don't you feel slightly embarrassed about boasting of such things? If I were Indian I'd be pissed with you.

That's because some do have it. There were plenty of Muslims from Afghanistan and Iran who settled all over the Subcontinent. One of the most famous Bengali Muslims is Shah Jalal and came to Bengal in the 13th century, leading the Muslim conquests of Bengal, but was born in Turkey. He is one of the most revered Bengali Muslims. Up until 6-7 centuries ago all of Bengal was Hindu, but. A series if Muslim invasions led to the Islamicasation of it to the point around 65 to 70 percent of all Bengalis are now Muslim

I am not boasting. What's there to boast about? In fact, the three that married whites were/are sort of outcastes. Their families did not approve for a long time but came round later. Personally I would never marry a White. My closest female friend is a Gujariti Muslim who I would probably marry in the next few years.

As already said, the hype is to claim French, British or German ancestry. Also, people of Greek, Lebanese and Armenian origin are usually proud of it (proud meaning it's important for them and don't hide it - not proud as feeling better than others).
