So, Slick...can you recite your ancestors 20 gens back? Also, how do they decide which ones to remember because going back 20 gens means like 100, 000 ancestors or something impossible like that!

Yet again incorrect statement. Take a hike to Djibouti and lets see if Afars are warlike or not? The same can be said about the Beja.
Huh?

The Beja were well known as fierce and cruel warriors throughout their long history. Kipling made them famous in the west by describing them as the "Fuzzie-Wuzzies" in his poem on the Mahdi wars in the Sudan. Beja men arrange their curly hair in a distinctly bushy Afro style, wear long white cotton cloaks and carry a crusader-type sword and a round shield.

I dont care whether they live in Djibouti or Sudan, if they are 'Beja', then they are fierce

Pshh, more like Northern Somalis used Ethiopia to fight their dirty battles for them...it's called 'outsourcing' buddy

And in the end, what benefit did ethiopia get? Did they accomplish their mission? Did they subdue al Shabaab?
Nicca please...Did the north gave a direct military order to Ethiopia to take care of the south? No. Who is the employer and who is the errand boy in Ethiopia versus Northern Somalis relationship.

btw. The Pashtun Afghans have the same proverb but when the moment of truth came...They sold their soul to the devil and hurried up to accommodate the will of Americans to undo their Afghan brothers.

Perhaps the Fulanis were able to submit other ethnic group of West Africa and to control every aspect of life in those countries but in the Horn of Africa, The Beja's influence both in Sudan and in Eritrea is insignificant. The same can be said about the Afars. Do your home work

Still doesnt take away the FACT that they are a fierce bunch. I have done my homework, now do yours. I dont care whether Bejas are insignificant to Eritrea or Ethiopia, fact remains that they have resisted foreign intervention and are an ethnocentric bunch. No matter how much you downplay the fierceness of Bejas, the history books will continue to contradict you.

The Bejas are know for their ferocious nature in battle. The Beja men also take great pride for their reputation as being highly skilled swords men. It's a rare site when meeting Beja men without their "Sefs" (Swords) by their sides, often making first encounters with them very intimidating. Like the other indigenous population of the nothern Africa, the Beja people have fought bravely throughout their chequered history to defend their motherland, culture and economic resources. With some remarkable successes, they repelled foreign encroachers, on the one hand, and suffered immensely, on the other hand. The incursion of the Anglo-Egyptian forces in Eastern Sudan was met with a fierce resistance from the Beja tribesmen. The epic resistance of the Beja earned them the awe and respect of their enemies: this sublime struggle was inscribed in history annals as a poem by the Victorian poet of the day, Rudyard Kipling (1865 – 1936), in his famous Fuzzy-Wuzzy (Appendix I). Due to the gross violations of human rights, the British ‘victories against Osman Digna [in Eastern Sudan] had had a mixed reception in Britain, and the [British] Government had been attacked for allowing an indiscriminate massacre of unarmed [Beja] tribesmen. When finally the British subdued the Beja resistance, they captured their leader – viz., Osman Digna – and treated him with awe and respect for fear of retaliatory attacks from his followers.

Impressive. I only know my family back to the mid 1700s through oral tradition. The rest required homework.

Ferej is a Habesha, these people have no concept or understanding of the nomadic warrior mindset, which is why he is underestimating the warrior nature of the Beja and Afar. They are peasant farmers, all they care about is farmland and harvesting crops, and power = who has more farm land. Historically, they are like the Han Chinese, while the Beja/Afar/Somali were like the Mongolians.

If that is the case, instead of using the word ARE, use the proper word WERE . The fact is, Nomads in general are lousy in conducting modern warfare.

Of course since these artificial border demarcations fucked with their seasonal movements, and splitting them apart. Also gov'ts in Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Eritrea, etc centralizing everything and abandoning any development for nomadic people. But you are right, the modern era has not been kind to nomads.

While lording over the lowlands. Tweet, stop trolling. You're out of your element. You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie.

Please. All I have to do is disagree with you to be called an Uncle Tom. And only the most biased of observers wouldn't deem your post provocative:

Provocative? Ferej himself trolled this thread (like he does on most Somali related threads), now move aside with your bias. I aint here to sooth your ego. He gets all worked up whenever something positive is written about Somalis

No question, Ferej does that shit all the time. In fact, I would be shocked if Ferej wrote something unprovocative. He's been doing that shit since RAS. Like I said, you're out of your element, and I don't mean that in an insulting way. It's best not to get involved in the petty disputes of African nationalist internet warriors. It's all empty posturing, usually over the suffering of others.

That only makes them more impressive.

Italians can claim the Roman Empire, the Renaissance, Opera, and whatnot... Germans have tons to be proud of, the English have the largest empire in history... but Somalia never amounted to anything and yet they're still proud as fuck.

I wouldn't say the most proud in the world, but they're certainly on God's bad list for being prideful.
