I dont know if it have been discussed here before.
We like to say what we like about our nation or what we do not like about others, but what about dislikes concerning own ethnical group? Obviously, its all based on generalisation and simplification. There are a few things I dont like about Polish people. - overall tendency to improvisation and relying on "common sense". Law and regulations? Only idiots need them, we know better ourselves, cause for Polish people everything is "obvious". e.g. when there is a road sign saying maximum speed is 50, a Pole will go 60 because he knows better. He will not go 80, cause "obviously" he is not an idiot, but "obviously" 50 is too low and 60 is just perfect. - lack of imuch interest (especially in Eastern part of Poland) about public space, contrasting with accurate caring about private space. People can spend hours digging their own garden and planting flowers, while at the same time just behind the fence there will be a big pile of rubbish and they will not touch it, cause its "not theirs". - lack of moderation in public debate, plus lack of distance sometimes- going up and down from feeling superior to feeling opressed, the best example is national football team, which last 25 years is a pile of crap, but before every Mundial we have out of the blue "this time very good team" and they loose and everyone is surprised, no ligic in this behaviour. - relying on what the "world" says about Poland or Poles. Anything important happens and Poles will search what other think, even people on some small island of Oceania. Instead of focusing on the event, we focuse on "how it is perceived". There are 4first things which came to my mind, probably the most annoying to myself. - |

Poland is an impressive country with a strong rise at the moment and I wish the people the best for the future, I think out of a stagnating Europe in the future-Poland can become one of the leaders, maybe even make Europe great again-who knows.
As for OOKA (UK) as much as I love it: 1) Unquestioning trust for the media. 2) Overreliance on TV. 3) Commonplace social ignorance on certain issues: EU, Tuition fee rises, the NHS etc. Talking to one idiot off the street is often like talking to every idiot on the street. 4) Superstition (considerable belief in UFOs, Ghosts, Astrology, Tarot and other such bullshit). 5) Overreliance on vice-tobacco, alcohol, gambling etc. To name a few |

1) Lack of work ethic among the native English (as in born in England with an English cultural background)
2) Too much kow towing to the whims of the Scottish, the Welsh and the European Union 3) Lager louts 4) Rejection of Englishness in favour of being 'British' 5) Lack of understanding among people of our heritage and national history (never mind other nations' histories of which people are even more ignorant) |

1) Lack of work ethic among the native English (as in born in England with an English cultural background) 2) Too much kow towing to the whims of the Scottish, the Welsh and the European Union It's hard to argue with euroskeptics. Although I do agree with you that the Scottish and the Welsh get an easier ride courtesy of London. 3) Lager louts Couldn't agree more, in an ideal world beer and spirits would be illegal. 4) Rejection of Englishness in favour of being 'British' I can't speak for the English, but I think it would help if there was more of an English identity. 5) Lack of understanding among people of our heritage and national history (never mind other nations' histories of which people are even more ignorant) Definitely, the lack of awareness of British heritage/history/culture (sorry about the B word) and international history/culture is shockingly poor. Even in the days of the empire people were far more educated, you would think in the modern day people would be more clued up. |
