Well, people can call themselves whatever they want but they aren't the Native American Indians. Most Hispanics have tons of Spanish blood.
Like me.

I agree. Only Guatemalans that speak Maya-Quiché, Bolivians that speak Aymara/Quechua or Mexicans that speak any of their native languages have the right to call themselves "Indian". And even this term is really a misnomer, as the real Indians are the inhabitiants of India, whereas it would be more suitable for these Native Americans to simply identify by their tribal names (Maya, Aymara, Mapuche, etc.).

to be honest, I'm what you would call a mestizo, no one has ever called me an Indio, but really, c'mon maybe puerto ricans are mixed triracials, but most Mexicans are either mestizo or indian. Most of the mestizos are predominantly native american with only a small ammount of European blood, which makes them mostly native american.

All of latin america is striving to be Spaniards, it's so stupid. We're not spaniards. We may have a few drops of blood, but we are native americans in the end.

Why don't they see the value in their own culture like the Europeans do.

Europeans don't like this because it will drive them out of the Americas and they want to be called Native Americans.

Native Americans don't like this because they dream of being Spaniards or White, but they are just lying to themselves.

It dpends on the culture you were raised, I was raised in a castizo culture(Jibaro)but I am a pred quadr0on individual, and my relatives are from griffes to very white quadrron and triracial types. So I can call myself neither an Spanird or Amerindian or black because i am pheno mixed(but I can be pred euro by pheno as the majority of ancestors and relatives white mixed people.

An Island like puerto rico should focus on their own culture their own natives and their own beliefs, it's pretty easy for your island. You don't have to call yourself native american, just call yourself Puerto Rican and don't pretend to be American or from USA unless you want to lose your identity.

However for me I'm neither Mexican nor Salvadorean, I'm both, but what is the combination of both equal to?

It's not latin american, since I grew up in USA and the Latin in me is not the majority of my genes

I'm not Hispanic because Language is pointless and I speak English more often than Spanish.

It's Native American or just American. Since both those words are weird, Indian is more of an empowering word.

If a German and a Dutchmen have kids they are still European Germanics.

It is not like that, in South America people is barely connected with Spain (people likes Spain but no one feels spanish) many words are in Italian and portuguese, have you ever read the user Banderaintes.
I think the word hispanic or latino is strange because the difference between the countries. But Indian is also strange, in SA the pro-nativist movements are associated with land thieves and money beggars.
I think the most correct is to call t people according to the nationality.

The modern south america has not influences of Europe or Indians.

I don't know, I think it would be good to acknowledge all parts of their roots. We Acadians are proud of our European and Amerindian roots. Probably most Acadians are more towards the European side (I am genetically, and so are those I share with on 23andme) but we acknowledge that Amerindians contributed to and had a profound impact on our culture, so we have Amerindian as well as European roots, even though we're European genetically.

Tell me which street is spain and which is brazil

I see the similarity between Acadiasn and PR jibaro people, majority of Jibaros are pred Euro but with native gene input and also culturally Jibaros are pred euro but with some Taino influence.

Yeah, there could be. I will have to do more research on Jibaro people. Intermarriages were pretty rare in Acadia (although they did happen), relations were mainly either business or platonic friendship related. Acadians more or less integrated with Natives while maintaining parts of their French culture, but adopted Native customs and knowledge that were better suited for the new land or unknown in any European cultures but necessary for survival or gaining of knowledge in the new lands.

I'd say Acadians have more cultural influence from Amerindians than genetic. But this is good. Other French settlers died, because they were too stubborn and wouldn't adopt Amerindian agricultural techniques for example... but European ones don't work here because the soil is different, so they starved.

Like Quiroz, in the census I also identified as a non-Hispanic, Black/African American and Native American person. I wonder how much people identified as both Black and Native American in the census...

I dont get, are you planning to live like the ancient indians from the earth and doing sacrifices?.

Obviously everything is influenced by Europe, USA, India, Africa. Because Europe was/is the major power and probably the most advance in culture.
Anyway i have been in Europe, South America and the USA and i can tell you South America is more influenced by the USA in traditions than to Europe.

No, I don't want to live like a native american lol, I like air conditioning and my jeans.

I just think that it would be good to bring back some culture, traditions, architecture and an identity.
The world would be boring if every place was just like England, it's good to have some variety.

There's Native American Seminoles here in FL who live in AC and are way richer than we ever will be It's us South American Natives who are utterly materialistically poor.

Yes, i agree about the roots. But accept it as a reality is strange. Because no one knows what the indians were like, most things about the indians here are fancy histories made by people that claims reparation money. About Europe modern Europe is completely different than South America i know both places and it is different, the influence is clear. But SA today looks like a developing model of the USA.
