It's interesting because I view Jews as Western, not Middle Eastern, in terms culture especially. Perhaps genetically it's different, but alot of the Israelis I see on TV for example are very Western looking, whether it's Israelis like Benjamin Netanyahu or Tsippi Livni, or American Jews like Adam Sandler and Ben stiller. Also, a significant portion of the Israeli society seems to be extremely liberal (in a Westernized way); if I'm not mistaken, Tel Aviv is a hotspot for gay people. Maybe the way of life of most Middle Easterns differs from the way of life of most Jews, and so they identify more with the West.

There are certainly people who are anti-semitic in the Middle East, but you are looking at things from a black & white angle. Israel has severely harmed and violated the rights of Palestinians & Lebanese people over the years, and that's why there is deep resentment towards the brutal actions of that state, not because of its Jewish identity.

didnt alot of european jews migrate to israel at some point? that might be part of it.my step moms father is jewish,and his wife is israeli if im not mistaken,they seem to see themselves as jews and not much else...

and I identify with North Africans

i agree nothing is white northing's black, everyone is between those two. But even without all of what sadly and unfortunetely happened , I really don't think there would be a deep love between these countries , and it probably will never be the case. I actually welcome the way Israel handles itself in the middle east, their lifestyle is very refreshing and no, they should NOT adapt the way their neighbors live, that's a very stupid mentality.

The way Israel always puts so much emphasis on their western/european roots makes one wonder why they chose a place that doesn't fit these criteria at all. And everybody knows that the supposed "Judeo-Christian" civilisation that politicians like to point out so much(stupidly especially German ones) only existed in some western Euro countries for a short time, the rest of the time Jews got lynched every few years. So imo Israelis who idealize European Jewish life are delusional and insulting their forefathers.

First of all, it's their ancestral homeland which they identify with and it's their right.

Second of all, it's evolution, parts of Israeli culture is are actually oriental middle eastern while other parts are western, that's like saying why should the Arabs in Dubai build skyscrapers similar to mega American cities? Why not just build giant tents instead
