(RIP) Motörhead Remember Me ![]() ---------- Post added 2010-11-22 at 18:38 ---------- This animosity. Has it occurred things similar to street riots or does it express itself just by the different ethnicities cursing at each other when they´re drunk? ![]() Also: Sannfinnländarna, what is their opinion of the Swedes and the Finland-Swedes? |

Finns hate Sweden(though they basically hate every other country on Earth), because of this 600 year rule. On one hand Sweden brought trade, a jump to the Medieval Age technologies, the possibility for Finnish language to develop, peace, the law and later on, the Renaissance . On the other hand, Finns are a bunch of goddamned ingrate queers.

It's true, I guess. I have heard that Norwegians dislike Swedes due to the "big brother" status as well. At any rate in historic terms Denmark is the "big brother" of the Scandinavian kingdoms, not Sweden. |

I honestly doubt Finns have much to worry about there. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20101122...trussiamissile |

I've noticed while looking at sport broadcasts in TV that the commentators in Sweden not only root for their own guys but also for the Finns and others from the Nordic countries.
The Finnish commentators on the other hand are much more nationalistic and on the contrary more or less openly rejoice when it goes bad for the Swedes in sport events. ![]() |

Like, in England, their football supporters will cheer for Scotland or Wales or Ireland, but the Scottish root for England's opponents. |

Isn't there any hostility left between Denmark and Sweden, I mean when you think about all the (often very cruel) wars between those two countries in the past? There isn't any hostility on my part at least. But I can admit that most Swedes look different on Norway and Finland than Denmark. For example in case of sports: First we cheer on Norway or Finland and after that Denmark. And if Iceland or Färöarna we cheer on them before Denmark as well. However nowadays many Swedes, including myself, find both Denmark and Finland superior countries. Mainly due to better politics, as you all might know the Swedish establishment hate Sweden=). The relation with is complicated, it´s like a brother, but a brother you have grown up with hating (a historical metaphor, along with Russia they are the arch-enemy. However still family. I can´t speak on behalf of all Swedes but I think this sums it up. ![]() |

I have never ever encountered a finn or norwegian that hate sweden, not on the net either.
Hell, my girlfriend is fresh from Helsinki, she loves swedes. And a norwegian woman my sister know likes swedes too, and have swedish boyfriend. But as we've said earlier, it might be different between men and women ![]() On holiday resort norwegians and swedes always seem to find each other in the hotel restaurant and in the pool, getting along well, like they meet a fellow countryman. There has been antipathy towards the swedish elite in norway but that's all. From swedes side, I'd say swedes like Denmark more than Norway (due to better politics there for instance and denmark being a path to the continental Europe), and Norway more than Finland. Few swedes have actually been in Finland, apart from on cheep weekend cruises, finland feels more distant than norway. I wouldn't call finns brothers since they are from different language group. To be honest, on the net I've seen more swedes hating finns than the other way around. OP Gothic is a good damn rookie, sad to see threads like this here. ![]() ---------- Post added 2010-11-23 at 17:56 ---------- Guys in Norway used to complain about swedish guest-workers "stealing their women". I also remember a documentary about integration (named Welcome almost everyone) where a swedish tv reporter were on the streets in Oslo and asked a norwegian guy about what he thought about those swedes living there, he said "as long as they don't take our women it's great" ![]() Same have Spaniards said about Italians I've heard. |
