DRDO develops P-7 Heavy Ariel Drop system for AN-32 and IL-76
 

http://frontierindia.org/forum/attac...adrde-drdo.jpgDRDO ADRDE has made significant achievements in the field of ‘Aerial Delivery System’ viz P-7 heavy drop platform system for IL-76, Bulk production of Heavy Drop System for AN-32, Successful demonstration of controlled Aerial Delivery Systems etc. IL-76 Aircraft still uses imported heavy drop systems P-7 and P-16 , which are going to outlive their lives in near future. HDS for AN-32 is used for the combat loads with All Up Weight in the category of 3 tons, while HDS (P-7) and HDS (P-16) fall in 7 tons and 16 tons category respectively.


DRDO Heavy Drop Platform (P-7) System is used for para drop of combat material and cargoes having a flight mass of 3750 kg to 8500 kg using IL-76 Aircraft. It is a metallic structure of basic dimensions 4.2 x 3.2 x 0.2 m, made in aluminium and steel alloys. Except these materials, plastic and copper alloys have also been used in few components.
