Dear friends,
This is an extract of what Norman Vincent Peale’s Book is all about. It is very clear and in black and white. The phrase “Positive Thinking” means in Peale’s own words” He likens this power to a "Higher Power" that "is constantly available. If you open to it, it will rush in like a mighty tide. It is there for anybody, under any circumstances or in any conditions." What is the "Power" in The Power of Positive Thinking? The "Power" Is a Real Force and Not Merely an Attitude As I have contended, however, an optimistic attitude toward life is not entirely what Norman Vincent Peale's Power of Positive Thinking is all about. Rather, this "power" is something by which one can "rise above obstacles which ordinarily might defeat you" (p. ix) by "channeling spiritual power through your thoughts." (p. ix) For Peale, this power is not merely an attitude, but is a real power that resides in us. Peale encourages his readers to "believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy." ===============================Norman Vincent Peale. I am not a Chennaite and I am not interested in seeing Chennai becoming a developed city like many of the western towns. If any one in Chennai thinks that could happen it can only be a Dream. I want to get far away from Western Influence, even for a week and this is exactly the reason I come to Chennai. If Chennai turns out looking like any other western City I will not spend my money to come to Chennai any more. Chennai with its environment clean will look beautiful without a western look. Moving away from Chennai is running away from its problems. You have given up even before you started, How's that for positive thinking? Dear friends, I hope I have made myself clear enough. Peale’s message is even clearer. It's not enough we read books, we also need to understand what the author really wants to say. I do hope that Positive Thinking does not end up in Negative Results.
