i'm happy to announce that the revival of kendo in Morocco has started a couple of months ago thanks to David Chan sensei from Malaysia. I discovered the good news in a kendo seminar that was held last weekend conducted by Mr De Brunel (captain of the french kendo team) who was assisted by Mr Giordanengo head of the Nice Kendo Club, David Chan sensei and two other members of the Nice Kendo Club. The seminar wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for Mr Mihil (aikido/aikikai teacher) who organised the event.
Most of the participants were aikidoka, the general feeling before and after the seminar was a pretty good one.
it was a pleasure to get to scream my guts out again , the only downside for me was the fact that i don't own a bogu (yet, i ll'have mine hopefully in nexr month), i would've liked to get some jigeiko time with the guys but i shouldn't be complaining, i'm a kendo newbie again YOOHOO.

As far as the wearabouts of the dojo i'll post em when i get the right address.

That's good news to hear. Finally after all these years hearing others how much fun they have (or not), you get the chance to join the crowd actively. Sincere congratulations.
I have another question. Recently an old friend of mine passed away and he participated in the Third World Championships for Kendo in Milton Keynes in 1976.
I had a look at the program and other interesting stuff and one of the competing countries was if I recall correctly Morroco. Where have all these guys gone then I wonder. Maybe you should ask around and then they will return from their retirement.

I agree Thank you, i just learned last weekend that Morocco was reprensented in 1976 WKC, all the guys were kyu grade under a french coach, actually one of those guys who's 65 years old now lent an official publication to Chan sensei which contains pictures of all the 76 WKC team members. I'll ask Chan sensei if he can scan and upload some pages. I did know that the first sighting of kendo as well as iaido out here was thanks to Georges Stobbaerts Sensei who's a native of Morocco (one of the founders of the IKF/FIK) , sadly kendo and iaido didn't thrive, i guess it must've been either because of a lack of interest or that it was more financially demanding than say aikido.

Hopefully kendo is there to stay for good this time.

Yes as i wrote on my answer to MrT, i heard from one of the dojo members that two to of those guys come to practice or at least visit from time to time. The thing is they didn't go beyond the kyu but anyway i'm still exited to meet them hopefully tomorow night

Thanks man, all we need is a solid student basis, easier said than done but i got a good feeling about this, Chan sensei has already been in this situation when he helped Brunei kendo back on its feet so i'm confident that with hard work and a little luck we'll get there two.

Thanks dude, i'll post the precise address and dojo name as soon as i come back from training tonight. I didn't ask for the adress since i knew the place but it didn't occur to me to ask about the dojo name.
About the Ceuta dojo, that's one of the discoveries i made the last weekend, didn't know it existed. A french kenshi who trains with Chan sensei told me that they had like 25 to 30 members
