Default Kanji help: committee titles
Thought I'd throw this out to the collective knowledge of the membership.

I need the kanji for "Secretary" and "Treasurer" as they would be for positions on a standard federation committee.

Tuttle's Kanji Dictionary has nothing for Treasurer and "Jimu Souchou" (Secretary General) for secretary.

saiga-jp.com only has "hisho" (secret writing).

Does anyone know what the terms would be?

secretary 秘書役 ????
(you could just say セクレタリー but its sounds like an OL or something)

treasurer 会計局長 ????

I think there are a few ways to write these......

i.e. no idea!

Hishyo is correct but it usually (not always) implies OL who does all the busy work.
It would help if you could tell the details of the type of work. Not in detail but in general.
From my office experience I would suggest adding the suffix kakari to the job he/she would be doing. ***-gakari (係) For example I would call the treasurer kaikei-gakari instead of kaikei-chou.

秘書 for secretary usually refers to a private secretary. I think maybe 事務官 would work. I seem to remember having seen 主務 used as well.

Treasurer can be 会計 or 会計係.

I don't know for certain. I'm sure someone else will though!

Edit: cross-posted with Leiv... argh.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm wanting to get bilingual meishi printed for our state renmei's committee members.

Yes the Secretary position I'm talking about is not an OL-type position (although the incumbent would probably tell you he works his arse off for as little recognition!). It is the position that is held by the person who is in charge of communications for an incorporated body. The Treasurer is the one in charge of the money. President is, well, the President. And the Vice-President does about as much as VPs ever do.
