The title said MJER, but he was doing seiteigata. Is he aware of the difference? |

I think he was refering to doing the MJER style of seiteigata, which is slightly different that other styles, in noto and such. It'd be pretty hard to get shodan without knowing the difference between koryu and seitei. |

Sorry Scott, from what I could see he definitely cast the sageo over his saya and tied it to his left.
TBH if he was going for Shodan I can see why they passed him - I have seen a lot worse pass their Shodan. In fact I have seen a lot worse pass their Nidan and Sandan. He came across as an Aikidoka doing Iai - his back foot was not straight and definitely at an Aiki angle. For me his worst form was Soete Tsuki. On the first clip; wow how awful was he. Forget boxercise we now have Iai-aerobics ![]() ![]() |

FIrst clip: So now we know what Elvis has been up to. Great dance steps, yes, but omg wobbly knees and horribly gyrating hips! it's almost indecent *blushes*
![]() What happened to stable hara? Imagine doing that whole routine in a dojo - people would laugh themselves silly, then ban you or only bring you in for the end-of-year goof practice/party. Then again, there's a lot to be said for making people laugh. And he does get a good golf swing in occasionally! |

I don´t know much about iaido, so I can´t comment on the MJER-whatever arguments. But I say he looks definitely like someone seriously trying to do something serious and knowing a certain amount of what he does. So I think he should not be compared to the silly dances-with-swords-guy and should not be laughed at...
