Ok, so I read...alot. Recently it seems that im at a loss as to what to read. Every book on my shelf, ive read. Some everal times. So its time to get some new books. I figured I would pick up some kind of book on Zen puzzles. (with questions along the lines of 'whats the sound of one hand clapping' or something like that.)Though, every time i go to barns&nobles or waldens and ask a sales rep. for a book on Zen puzzles-they either give me s blank stare or lead me to the cross word and brain teasers section. I doubt this is the section i need, though im not sure.
Maybe im not calling it the right thing.. (is it even called zen puzzles? right? o.O) I mean, i know there are books out there dealing with this subject, there has to be! So i figured it might be easier to ask you guys for advice or recommendations. Does anyone read/do these kinds of thing? If so-would you mind giving me certin book suggestions you found to be interesting? Or hey, even telling me what the proper term for 'zen puzzles' is? Thanks so much! |

I doubt this is the section i need, though im not sure. The proper term is 'Zen Koan'... if you use this to search on Amazon / B&N etc... you will come up with loads of options including: Samurai Zen: The Warrior Koans : Trevor Leggett Gateless Gate: The Classic Book of Zen Koans : Kuon Yamada The Iron Flute: 100 Zen Koans : Nyogen Senzaki (Translator), Ruth Strout McCandless (Translator) Bring Me the Rhinoceros: And Other Zen Koans to Bring You Joy : John J. Tarrant Book of Equanimity: Illuminating Classic Zen Koans : Gerry Shishin Wick I am sure that there are many others as well. If you look up the titles and reviews on Amazon, you can usually pick up good condition second hand copies from www.abebooks.com ... check it out and enjoy...! Cheers |
