LAN Gaming in BKK- Non Existence??
 

Hi all,

I am not Thai, however, I do travel to BKK..I would say abt 7 to 8 times in a year because of my committments. I am just curious as to why I dun find LAN gaming shops in Bangkok. I enjoy my LAN games but I'm hard pressed to find a gaming centre or even the normal arcade gaming centres in Bangkok? Is there a Ban on it or are they hidden in areas I've yet to know. It gets quite boring as I'm normally there alone and I am not exactly a tourist either...so the normal attractions are not quite for me.
Would appreciate any enlightenment so I dun get holed up in the hotel again.

I really do not understand much about it, But they had a shop here in my village and the kids were there by the herd, They would spend all their time there and not even go to school.
So the village council closed em down and made em move out, My wife has some students that are really sharp, but their absentee rate is high, and I found out that they spend all their time in game shops instead of going to school and their parents have no objection.
So just maybe that is the reason that game shops are scarce..

I see them around town from time to time. I know there is a lot of LAN gaming on I think the 6th or 7th floor of MBK, same floor as the bowling alley. Also 2 good internet cafes up there. I spotted a few on Huay Khwang road on the night market side of the street down a bit. Basically they're around, usually with some cushy chairs and a Ragnarok sticker on the window.

hey tks..well I guessed I must have missed em in MBK...I was searching high and low for these places on a few nights (maybe some half hearted attempts) and apparently found nought. Then my Thai fren told me I can forget abt going these places as the Govt imposed a ban on playing LAN games at night..I was really a lil shocked.Ended up surfing the web at a shop near my cheapo hotel on most nights then. Maybe to the tourists, gaming ain't really such an attraction at nite...

Sorry abt the post in 2 Forum topics...I appreciate your reply..Actually I do understand that villages might not have em and it really hurts the kids' grades...but in Central Thailand...Siam...Silom...even with my frequent travel there I have yet to come across 1 shop...strange.

Phetchabun is central Thailand, and I don't think it has that much to do with tourists needs, but what is good for the country seems to me to be more important.
Just like children need to be computer literate but not to an extent that their lives revolve around them and gaming and they have no other interests, that hurts them a lot more than helping them, Know what I mean??

Let me pose this question: At what age should a child be introduced to a computer?

And if introduced to early does affect their ability to understand basic concepts thinking for oneself or decision making based on the input of facts from various sources?

introduced to a computer as a Gaming Devise or as a Learning/Educational Tool??

My youngest daughter always was advanced for her age, at 3 years old she wanted a puter, I got her one, not online but with age appropriate learning software, and she did learn very quickly plus became computer literate at an early age.

A lot of people thought she was years older than her true age when she would converse with people that really didn't know us, and were shocked when learning that she was 5 and sounded 9.

I was, she was always advanced, I raised her by myself for her first 5 years and always talked to her as an equal and never as a child, She got to have her say in most things except discipline, I ran an AA group for years and she was always part of it and visited with everyone.
She was born in Mexico and has a citizen born abroad status.
Then when we came to Thailand her mother who is an INS known illegal went to court and had a stupid judge change my custody to her and I had to send her back.
