I do not think that Garuda logo is appropriate though. Since in Thailand it represents government sector or private organisations who have permission to use it; according to the thai law (¾ÃÐÃÒªºÑ**ѵÔà¤Ã×èͧËÁÒ¤Ãر). http://www.thailandqa.com/forum/images/smilies/rock.gif

Lol, reminds me of my "âÊ´" T-Shirt I have. It's to date the only shirt I ever bought with Thai writting on it already. I bought it about 5 years ago during the phase in Thailand where the Bird Thongchai McIntyre music vid was popular.

The vid had a guy and a girl (Puu Blackhead and Aom Sunisa) walking around BKK wearing black T-Shirts with âÊ´ on the front and ¤¹äÁèÁÕΌ on the back attracting a lot of attention.

I finally printed the t-shirt! I used the Royal Forest Department symbol. I hope they won't mind... but I guess it's kind of ok as I used to work for them and the shirt doesn't look disrespectful.
With all the ideas you gave me I might print some more shirts with Thai words on them or somethinghttp://www.thailandqa.com/forum/imag...lies/smile.png I wonder how Thai people here in Switzerland would react...?

I'd like to print a Thai symbol on a shirt I bought recently. But I'm not sure yet what kind of symbol I should take. It should be something decorative, which I could print out (small size) in black and white and iron on the shirt.
My first ideas were "garuda" (but I'm not sure if it's inappropriate??), the outlines of the country of Thailand, ... or maybe a short word / idiom / phrase in Thai... I have hundreds of ideas, but no idea which one to choose http://www.thailandqa.com/forum/imag...lies/blush.gif

Does anyone have any good ideas?

Any symbols which would not be ok to use? (I'm not thinking of using buddhist symbols in particular, though.)

At the moment my favorites are the garuda (http://www.thai-la.net/form/garuda.jpg) and the royal forest dept. logo (I used to work for them). I can't find any higher resolution pics for these though.
I also like the logo of HM the king's 60th year on the throne. Can I use it on a non-yellow shirt?

I always found it tough to find T-Shirts with Thai written on them. Everywhere you go there's some random English written on Thai shirts but hardly ever Thai..except for business/Schools etc.

So I kinda got into the habit of having my own shirts made. I tend to just put Thai song lyrics on them. Loso, Bird Thongchai, Carabao...and more modern bands like Potato and Bodyslam.

the only thing about wearing them is that Thai's don't seem to think a farrang would wear a T-Shirt with Thai script...and actually know what it ment. So you have random Thai's coming up to you all the time telling you what you're shirt says or you have Thai's shouting the script from across the street to you (you get this a lot from Motorbike Taxi men).

I go to a nice little sports place down past MBK near the national stadium to get them done. The folk in their usually just print names and numbers for football teams shirts, but they were only too happy to make some for me..
..and now when I go back they have Idea's for shirts from songs they heard and recently ad campaigns they saw on TV or heard on the Radio.

I often wear my T-shirt with "farang" in Thai script. It makes it easy to tell Thais from other Asians because they usually point and laugh. It's a good ice breaker.

How about HM the kings symbol for his 60th year on the throne? Would it be considered rude or inappropriate if I changed the colours to black and white and print it on a grey shirt? Or does it have to be yellow?

I think it is ok to put the symbol as it is on different colour shirt but I am not sure about altered the colour of the symbol into black&white since each colour on each part of the symbol all has specific meaning. I have tried looking around but I've never seen the symbol in B&W that's why I'm not sure about that.

Are there any limitations as to who is allowed to wear the symbol of the Royal Forest Department?

I've seen that symbol on blue shirts (school uniform) and on white ones too.
