House warming gift

At Christmas I'm off to Thailand for because my boyfriends mum is having a house warming party for her house that has just been completed and my mum would like to buy her something to put in her new house but she has no idea what. Could you please suggest something?? Thank you.

That is the single best suggestion I could think of as well. Possibly a nice floor mat, or a big fat heavy Korean blanket. Those are the three gifts we got. Well actually we got 3 floor mats and 2 Korean blankets, and 6 posters, two of the posters were framed very nicely.

When my cousin who lives in Holland came to visit me in NY, she bought me those wooden Dutch shoes keychain (tiny ones). I still have them on my big keychain! http://www.thailandguidebook.com/iB_...cons/smile.gif

As for your stuff, maybe something traditional like Mat said. I would sure like a poster or painting of the Buckingham Palace or maybe the queen? I don't know, but as a kid, I would want a poster of the current most famous popstar in England. http://www.thailandguidebook.com/iB_...ns/biggrin.gif

Oh, a broom is also a pretty common gift. Useful one too http://www.thailandguidebook.com/iB_...cons/smile.gif

http://www.thailandguidebook.com/iB_...cons/smile.gif I know many houses recieve posters of the royal family as first items.

I think a gift which is unique to Holland would be very welcome.Just as our house in the UK is full of things bought from Thailand, the same thing applies ,Thai people like things which come from outside their country.

Thank you for the ideas but the thing is i live in Holland and i'm flying out there with the gift (slightly difficult with a broom!) so is there anything else i could take that would be approiate?
