I want to make holidays in thailand for more than 4-6 months. Any recommendations for staying (cheap hotels, rent a flat, etc.)
I think to rent a flat is the best way to get good contact with thailand and the nice thai people.
But, how can I get a flat that is not only in tourist-centres like pattaya? Any suggestions for contacts?

I can get a 90days visa and ask for re-entry visas (30days) several times. that is actually no problem.
But I am in doubt of the staying (where and how). Are there any good and cheap flats to rent and where can I get the contact for renting?

Adrian, I can get a visa from the thai embassy for 90-days AND I request on that visa for multiple entries to thailand. contact your local embassy for further informations.

What are the requirements to make a long term stay in Thailand. Normally, when you landed Thailand, the immigration will grant you a one month stay. What if you want to stay longer than that?

Where do you want to stay? You can get cheap places in Bangkok (5,000 per month) but they're not very big if central.
Tourist areas (Samui, Phuket) are expensive. Hua Hin is not bad, you can get a flat/house from 3,000 per month. Hotels and Condos tend to be nearer 7-8,000.

I live in Hua Hin which is pretty central (close to BKK and has its own airport). My house fully furnished, 3 bedrooms is 7,000 per month (elec/phone/TV about 700 extra). Here are a couple of websites for that area, could try looking at the classifieds:
