Default 'every day life' or a glimpse of paradise?
I only now stumbled upon this site and already I am deeply touched by the 'realness' of the posters. It is this sincerity that keeps me dreaming daily of the warm water, beautiful beaches, and so very lovely people I met in Thailand last spring. Right now I am listening to Sunshine Radio... Cinderella is singing a song that I have no idea what she is saying... but the sound her voice and the passion of the music is enough to take me there. I am an older farang, 52. I was married 19 years to a very beautiful american woman who decided to find a new guy at this stage of life. I did not go to Thailand the first time to meet Thai Lady, I went to meet a Russian, and it was nice, but it did not last. My memory of Thailand is so burned into my heart that I will never forget. Now I spend my free time searching for someone to talk with in the Thai chat rooms. I read and study the Thai Language. I listen to Thai Radio and Thai music. I think of the faces of the people I met there and the so very beautiful smiles and the beauty of the Thai Lady. I am not a 'dreamer' by my history, it is only now that I am so smitten by what seems like a dream. I can not describe the complexity of the magic that has been cast upon me. I never even heard of a King before now I want only to please him. When I go about my life in America, I think of the time of day in Krueng Thep, or the tide in Phuket. I wonder if I can ever be worthy to find a wife in a land where every face is that of an Angel, where very dawn is filled with the sound of songbirds and every night is lit by the brightest stars in heaven. To those of you who have found this heaven... I envy you, I applaud you, and I wish you much happiness. And to the wondrous, beautiful People Of Thailand... thank you... for a glimpse of Paradise...

Very poetic! Nicely written. You're lovestruck is what I'll say. Falling in love with Thailand is the one thing all we forumers have in common. Hope to see you post in here more often. Welcome to the family.

However...

This line doesn't sound quite right...

Hi, its really fantastic you have come to this beutiful land and let it embrace u in its beauty! I have great admiration for people who travel to a particular country and get engulfed in its culture, rather than exploiting it, in Thailand's example the lurring sex and drugs trade. Its sad when Asia is bombarded with the influx of sex tourists, and the only culture shock they get is getiing high and /or having sex in a different country. Does not give the country a good name. however, it really touched me you story/poetic ability of descirbing Thailand, its really pretty, I hope you have many wonderful trips to come and meet your pretty Thai angel! good luck

Touche, snap, likewise...I concur. What it is about these people [Thais]. Yes thank you for this virtual escape for those of us who have sipped from the cup of modern life, but have been left with a bittersweet taste and been left unsatisfied, yet know in our heart of hearts that there is more to life than possessions and wealth and power.

Surely we are not saying that any country is not without its problems and issues but when you meet so many people from one culture that leave such an impact upon you it bodes well for that country's spirit. May we form the seed that norourishes and protects and upholds these values...not just for Thailand but for so many other countries from being sucked into an anonomous faceless global market.

opps sounds a bit like a manefesto [B]

Nice post, I love Thailand to. I had a bad experience with my former Thai girl friend, wanting me for money, but don't let that fact put you off, as I met many good Thai ladies worth getting married to, some of which I'm very proud to have as friends. Just I'm afraid of being married

Paul I am impressed with your sincere honesty. It is certainly a beautiful land. Nothing is wrong with great friendships

Nice post, and even though the poster has been AFK for quite some time, the original post was just as lovely.
