Within hours of the apex court’s directive on samacheer kalvi, school education secretary D. Sabitha said the state government would distribute uniform syllabus textbooks to all schools in the state within three days. Some schools in Chennai received the textbooks in the evening itself.
Asked about addition and omission of content in the textbooks, which had been the bone of contention, the school education secretary said the government would revise them within three months as mandated by the Madras high court.

“We have ample time to add or delete content in the uniform syllabus textbooks”, she said. A senior official in the school education department said the state government had stocked uniform syllabus textbooks in all district headquarters and major towns and so distributing them to schools and students would not be a problem.
