Just thought about it when I wrote my address Lucian
It never reached me http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/confused.gif
I remember you told me when you sent it over but somehow it didn't arrive yet.
Have you sent it to your father who works in the shores or straight over?

Tenugui

Gentleman,

This might sound weird, but is anyone willing to exchange club/dojo tenugui ?

Oh, I see. Thank you so much Lucian. Living in the 3rd world is hard sometimes.

Takenaka-sam, Tozando's tenugui are the best i've used so far. They're big and ready to use. Other ones come in a rigid shape and don't tie adequately until the third wash. But you can make tenugui almost anywhere. Just draw an image of what you want, buy some light cotton fabric and search for these printing services around town.

We don't keep a tenugi in our budokan, we find that raccoons generally make bad house pets. (however, the principal at my new school has a stuffed tanuki in his office.)
Heh, Hey Confound, have you ever seen those big stone Tanuki with the 2 big balls in front of pubs and so forth?

Back when I was in Kyushu, a friend and I tried to pinch one( A brilliant idea, deduced while drunk). We carried that big bastard about 50 yards, then went, "ah, sod this!"

Next mornin...afternoon we went out for breakfast and what did I see when we stopped at the lights(traffic)? The big bastard just sitting next to the pedestrian crosswalk. It was pretty surreal...

Heh, I love those fuzzy fellas!

Alas, all my tenugui have cliché writings in kanji. Heijoshin, Mushin, Munem Musou Meikyu Shisui, that kind of stuff. It's kinda classy. The "event tenugui" are usually ugly you know.

And the ones with imagery on them, well, never had one. A friend of mine had one with a huge tiger and other with a flower pattern. I confess I felt envious sometimes.

Hey KhawMengLee and alexpollijr -- I'm game for swapping tenegui!

Let me know if you guys are too thru Private Messaging!

N9u9ie4p 03-29-2006 07:00 AM

Conan men? I would like to learn that waza, cause I'm a beginer.

It's really apt to create problems to the seniors with their tenugis? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif Maybe this will allow me to score some ippon.

Ciao!

Dpkefsuf 03-29-2006 07:00 AM

Try to get the tip to go to the outside of the right hip. Also make sure that the tip travels in nothing like a straight line, especially on the down-swing.

draigenia 04-29-2006 07:00 AM

tozando can do it but min order 100-200 i think

freevideom 05-14-2006 07:00 AM

Agh HA ! .... well.... Richard, you will be a Fudoshin before you can have one :P care to give up Kenshikan and join us in Fudoshin ? :P heehee

wiweimeli 06-07-2006 07:00 AM

It's simple.

Step one: abandon the notion of tenouchi. Just grab the tsuka like it was a double-bit axe.

Step two: raise the shinai until the sakigawa lies between your buttocks.

Step three: jump towards the opponent and strike his men on the mengane with all the force you can muster.

Et voila.

aaaaaarghhhhhh,
sorry for the cry of absolute stupefaction, but I just was astonished that for the first time I agreed with Confound ! maybe because it's the only time you've made much sense, but nevertheless, I confirm the tea towel story (tea towel= dish towel in the UK, folks here DO like tea ...). when i asked my ( Japanese) mother in law to send me some tenugui from japan, she kindly did so. they were a bit small, and did not have much in the sense of decoration of them: just white with lots of blue spots, or the same with a large red kanji in the middle. A bit small as well, but, hey, why not ? It's only when we wnt to the depatou next time i wnent to Japan that I realised that they came from the "kitchen ustensile" section of the shop !
I am still us9ing them, though. However, i have also bought some tenugui from some kendo shops, specialy from kendo. Altough they are quite similar, there is one bit difference: size, the ones for kendo are larger, and i prefer to use them, since they don't fall off my head during training -and annoy my sense (always a bad idea...). i have alos tried some of the tenugui-tea-towel as dish cloth, and they indeed perform admirably !
