Regarding Kenjutsu
Hi!
I am wondering if there is any site as extensive as this one regarding Kenjutsu. I'm also looking for a forum about the subject. I had seen an earlier post by a very angry person regarding the same issue, and I would like to stress that I find Kendo to be of great esteem and plan to join one day - I'm just wondering if anyone here would have any idea, thank you! P.S. - That 8dan test/documentary - wow |
I hope others will correct me if I am wrong but I thought that Iado and Kendo were basically forms of Kenjutsu? Where Kenjutsu is a term that applies to all Japanese sword arts?
Is Koryu the term for the various traditional non-Iado and Kendo schools? (Ryu?) If this is what you are looking for maybe e-budo would be a good place to go? Please excuse me if I have made any mistakes in this reply. |

Its not really about where each facet comes from that we are concerned with. Kendo is not Koryu. But I love kendo too. Hope this helps. |
There's no forum, but if you go to www.koryu.com and do a lot of reading you will eventually understand why they have no forum.
You will find more discussion of koryu at places like e-budo.com and swordforum.com but it's not extensive like here and you won't find any detailed discussion of waza or anything like that. |
It's probably a good idea not to have a koryu forum. KW drags in enough Hiten Mitsurugi ryu practitioners... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif
Kendo, being an art/sport (sorry!) that is standardised all around the world can easily be discussed on a worldwide forum. Kenjutsu, being a koryu (therefore different from teacher to teacher) is much more difficult. There are quite a few koryu practitioners on here and E-Budo. It's probably best if you ask specific questions and the guys and girls who know will get back to you pretty quick. Good luck with starting your kendo journey. |
Awesome! Thank you everyone for the plethora of information, I'll check out www.koryu.com to find out more information. Have a wonderful day!
