Has anyone seen the movie the Transporter 2. Well there was a "kendo" scene and at first I was like wow cause thats in there but then was let down as it was not very real. Thats a movie for ya. But anyway I was wondering if anyone knows where the guy got the black shinai from??
ROFL x3

My wife wanted to see this over the weekend. The opening action sequence wasn't exactly a kendo scene... It was a martial arts choreography to demonstrate how awesome the bad guy was with people wearing kendo gear.

Anyway, it was a good example of the mainstream view of kendo. Something like 6-8 guys in a 12' circle beating on each other with shinai, and sometimes they even used the shinai. Even the wife got a good laugh out of it.

At least it was better than the airplane sequence.

So should I pay $4.00 (matinee of course) to see this "kendo scene"..oh yeah there is a film in there somewhere as well.

Transporter 1 was okay...if not totaly overexagerated and overdramatic

vaalmerruutel 11-22-2005 07:00 AM

i hate some chinese movies where one guy without a weapon beats up a entire dojo of kendoka.. including sensei..

your arm must be very tough.

reiruviartugs 12-08-2005 07:00 AM

transporter will make your eyeballs melt and ooze out of your nose.

but stratam is a good actor though

nursopoutaras 12-20-2005 07:00 AM

I'd like to see Chuck Norris do kendo in a new movie. Him and John Rambo both. After all, Rambo did live in a monastary for some time, why not kendo?

kanchouska 01-14-2006 07:00 AM

it's a fun movie if you don't take it seriously. I enjoyed it... no matter how ridiculous it was in nearly every moment

Reminds me of a Murder She Wrote episode with "kendo." I set up my TiVo to automatically record anything with the word "kendo" in the description and I got it. Now I can't delete it, because it's just toooo funny to watch... Has anyone else seen it?
Yes! I too have my TiVo set for the keyword kendo, and it's caught that episodes few times. The kendo is horrible, as was everything else "Japanese" they portrayed in the show.

correction: pepsi commercial....-epileptic seizure-.

Then again watching the "Bad Guy" wearing a lovely white gi/hakama, with the White and Gold trimmed bogu doing some over the top martial art demo (rather like this: http://www.bogubag.com/Bogu/Girls_White/doh_08731_L.jpg) was a really really good laugh. He just looked so "cute" in his bogu... I especially liked the way he... no spoiling, must stop....
Now I have to see it, just to know what the crap is going on. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/rolleyes.gif

I liked Jason Statham in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. I never saw the first Transporter, so I think I'll see that first before I decide on this one.

However, I would like to see the kendo scene, crap or not.

occafeVes 04-29-2006 07:00 AM

They sell a blackened shinai here. Not sure if I'd get it myself though.

chootsonege 05-02-2006 07:00 AM

Actually, I have seen a shinai like that. Unusual sort of thing really. I thought that having black would be against standards etc.

sportlife 05-08-2006 07:00 AM

pepsi commercial.. -shudder-

Qxsumehj 05-25-2006 07:00 AM

my guess is that the movie people painted it so it would look "sweet" or so he would look like he was a "black belt"
