So after some thinking I've made my choice of going with the Acura RSX, but still have a few questions that I know the dealers will not give me a honest answer to ( Those cheap lying %@#%#@%).

I understand that the Acura RSX has a Sportronic Transmission (Auto/Manual), How exactly does the Manual Mode work? and is it as responsive as a regular stick shift?

I also have heard that the audio/sound system in the RSX is very poor, is this true?

Isn't this also known as the Honda Integra over here. If so... Damn nice car If you can get the Type R... wow. It's amazing.

And get the manual - the sporttronic thing is just an automatic with an override. Three pedals is best baby

I have an RSX Type S, although mine is regular manual.

The sound system is good. The Type-S comes standard with Bose speakers and a subwoofer in the trunk.

I really like it and highly recommend it.

but I heard the regular RSX does not come with the 7-sound speaker system.. I think thats only for the Rsx-S

Sport-tronic, Manu-matics, etc. are never as responsive as a Regular MT. Although Infiniti and Lexus are catching up with their AT's (F1 style paddle-shifting and pretty responsive) and I'm sure someday all cars will have these hybrid AT/MT trannies making the good ol' fashioned "stick" obsolete.

As far as the ACURA RSX goes I have only driven the Type-S which is standard MT. I couldn't tell you how responsive the Sportronic Transmission but I can tell you that my fiance owns a New Bettle with Sports-Shifting and I was not impressed at all... With the RSX being a somewhat 'entry-level' car I would assume that it would be very similar to that of the Bettle.

How does it work? There is a regular AT drive mode like in any other car with AT... but if you feel like taking control of the shifts yourself: The shifter can slide over to the manual shifting mode (marked with a "+" and "-") and you can shift up and down to your hearts delight.

Having driven a Type-S, I was impressed with the comfy interior and sound-system... and I can comment that the sound-system was actually pretty nice. That of-corse depends on what kind of sound package you get...

I would really push the dealer's to let you test drive-one and let you come to your own conclusion though. When it comes down to it you ae going to be making the payments. Not us. Make sure it's the car you want.


On a side note I heard that this is the last year the RSX is going to be released...

Yes. This is the last year Acura will make the RSX. In the near future, Acura will also discontinue the TSX as well. They are trying to shift their market from mid range to luxury in a move to increase the brand name value and compete with its chief competitor: Lexus.

Basically, Acura is trying to go upscale and is dropping the cars that aren't oriented towards that market.
