Hi Andrew,

Maybe you should post somewhere at the General kendo related issues. Second please use a spelling check, makes reading for us a lot easier. And use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence when you are going to tell something that uses more then 4 lines (that one is for me: I have a small reading problem). Thanks,

Hi Andrew. First off, relations between Kumdo and Kendo students is cordial at best in a lot of places (especiall on this forum) - so refering to the Japanese race as "Japs" probably isn't the smartest way to start off on the forums.
Secondly, just be patient and listen to your instructors (Sabunim) and everything will eventually fall into place.
btw - If you are learning Kumdo, you're in a dojang, not a dojo.
Good luck!

So, I read that there isn't any kendo in So. Cal. because there are no people of Japanese descent (corrected for idiot content) there?

I'll be damned.

Well, I can think of only one legit Kumdo dojang in all of So Cal, and that dojang is in Tustin.

From what you are saying, you don't go there.

What is the name of your dojang and teacher(Full name) please? Please be aware that there are lots of fake Kumdo teachers around, and very few legit ones.

And, I have never heard of a Korea Town. (? Is there even one?) There's a Little Tokyo though.

So, I can't figure out where you get the idea that there are no Japanese in So Cal. Oh, and BTW, NEVER call a Japanese a Jap. That's rude.

And also, there are LOADS of Kendo dojos in California, particularly in So. Cal. So, it is my guess you never bothered to look.

If you want Kendo, you can go to the AUSKF website:

http://www.auskf.info/mainpages/schools.htm

Look under California.

Next time, please do some searching before saying no Japanese exist.

There are so many Japanese sensei in Cali, it's not even funny.

juk-do.. or juk-kum.. haven't heard of jokka. means bamboo sword/blade.

anyway. there are large number of TKD folks teaching 'kumdo'. some good, some not.

as far as foot hitting the floor at the time of the contact with shinai to the target. you just need to practice. doing a big basic swing, make sure that your arm is up before stepping. your sabumnim can help you more.

This isnt WWII, and FDR isnt president. We dont say racist things like that. And your "apology" was obnoxious, it wasnt accidental.

There are QUITE a lot of LEGIT kendo dojos in socal. http://kendo-usa.org/statedojolist.htm#CA
Look there.

Also, WHY were you doing stomping (I dont know what its called in kumdo) on your first day? Kaoru, I think you might be right

There are new kumdo/kendo dojos started this past year. WLA dojo and another one by Park sensei. I don't know if these are the ones that the original poster are talking about.

Although I definitely don't agree with the attidtude of Andrew Kumdo if somebody is to ask a question then we should do our best to answer it, even if it may seem obvious to you.

god I really wanna just punch then.... that is a bad enough statement in itself.

We really dont need to widen the gap and add more hostile feelings between Kendo and Kumdo. I'm fine with stupid questions, I ask a lot of them. I dont like racists however.

I meant no disrespect (ok the punch comment was uncalled for). I was merely making an observation. I did not mean to widen the rift between the 2 disciplines, again it was a personal observation about some of the less serious board members. As I mentioned at one time there were 2 specific 15 or 16 year old kids who kept posting non-sense and claimed to be Kumdo Kenshi. I saw an interesting correlation between the two. I apologise if my comments offended you.
