Paintball mask advice

im actually only looking for one persons advice, and he knows who he is, but if anyone else wants to give advice, feel free.

im buying just a mask for this weekend. im getting everything else loaned. is there a reputation between mask types and makers for antifogging ability? im looking to buy the cheapest, but can perform. im not interested in buying junk either. or do they all fog anyway.

look thru this catalog, its a local shop i can walk in and buy from.

If you want to be newbie Beotch: This is very popular but if you want this one, i will pretend like I don't know you. This is like wearing protection under your kote.

A good themal is the only purchase you should need for a while. Visit a shop and try a few on. Do the heavy breathing thing on the lense and watch it vanish. On hot and humid summer day of running miles around the field in winter weight cammies, a good multi-pane thermal lense will have a coat of water on the inside but no fog...

I've used Scotts, Vents and JT's. (I liked my Scotts the best, but they stopped making pball goggles.) Try 'em on at a shop, and pick based on comfort and view. Whatever bothers you the least so you can focus on what you're doing. Oh, airflow is important, but so is not eating paint with faceshield hits.

I have been paintballing for 5 years now off and on and from my experiences, even the nicest of masks fog up (granted I also wear glasses). I have a really cheap mask... just put a thin film of dishwasher soap (im pretty sure any kind will do) over the lense of the mask and it does wonders for fog. It can get really messy, really fast however (but paintballing is a messy sport eh?)... get shot in the face and when you try and wipe it off, the buildup of dirt and condensation make for an interesting clean up job....!

Back when I played a lot, everything tasted like chalk. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif

The good googles almost never fogged unless you killed the anti-fog coatings (water only!)--multiple pane thermal lenses with good airflow designs. So until you play a ton--rent a field gun, buy some good goggles. The glasses were hopeless so I went to contacts. The contacts had problems before the googles a few times. Oh my gosh! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo.../surprised.gif I haven't played in 7 or 8 years--I'm getting old!

So how was it? Was it your first time? And did you shoot Tim? Even if you were on the same team, you should have shot him once in the back.

ha, timmy was sick in bed. at least thats what he told me...

the mask worked fine, absolutely no fogging. i took your advice and never left it over my head.

2nd half of the day was good for me, i lasted til the end most of the time. took a few guys out. so no welts for me.

i owe derrick big time for all the gear he gave me. but the karnivor started leaking at the regulator around the adjustment screw.
