Default DIY Hata (banner)
Anyone out there know of a website that describes the process of putting together (or at least has good pictures of) a traditional hata (Japanese banner - the rectangular ones held up by 2 pieces of bamboo). Want to make one for an upcoming shiai to root for my dojo (I know, crazy) and I am curious how the 2 bamboo pieces are held together. I am planning on drilling a hole and sticking them together like that - but any info would be great. Thanks!

You could also look up the term Sashimono. Those are the ones people wore on their back, and you may have some luck that someone SCA or such has built something like it.

I like www.dogpile.com for my searches.
