Hello,
I was wondering - is there any good Kendo or fencing computer game available on the market? Few years ago I remember there was something (on PS) but it was rather primitive and was lacking nice GFX, music, story line (well, these were simply samurai duels ;-) ). Is there something new? cheers, |

It'd be great if any company programs a videogame for kendo, and it would be really useful for learning purposes.
I propose, when making a kendo game, the following: MODES: Suburi, Ji Geiko, Shiai, Kakari Geiko. In suburi, you can level-up while you're in a lower level (rank) In Ji Geiko Mode, you can practice every hit, also you can train in jodan, gedan and ni-to In Shiai, everything is ok, but to be recognized as point, you will be judged by the oportunity you waited. In kakari geiko, shall be something like the mario party 's mini games, where more you "tap" the button, more you gain. If you level-up (a rank) you will earn credits to buy equipment as shinai, bogu, etc. any suggestion? --- well well, it was an idea I had on my free time, hope you don't call me freak or otaku, hehehe, OK, you can do it!! hehehe |

Hello, I think it would be great to have a game based on Kendo but company's often only think about the $ sign when it comes to new games. If I could create one myself....I would call it "McGrady's Kendo Challenge...by Konami". Yeah,...now that's what I'm talking about!!! The main characters would be the Ultimate fighter McGrady, the Invincible T.Lee, and the nearly beatable but not quite FONSZ!!!! Let's not forget the Duke of pain, CRABBI!!! Let's hear some thoughts! There was an old SNES game called Kendo Rage (japan only)
About Konami, nice to meet you, Alex_McGrady, I'm studiying multimedia computing engineering, I wish someday work at a place like yours. About the game, you're totally right, the audience will be less than a game like metal gear or something like that, but I have an idea, if your company will make bloody samurai game (like onimusha) it'd be great to play what I told you but as an easter egg, or a hidden (or unblockable) minigame. |

If you're gonna make a sword related game it might as well be real swords with lots of blood available, that's what sells games..
As far as swordfighting games available, I always wondered why no one has modded the game Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast 2 into a samurai-esque game, it seems like it's just begging to be done. Uses the quake 3 engine, you could probably mod the crap out of it -very- easily. And all the sword stuff is pretty much there already what with lightsabres and all.. |

What originally got me kendo-conscious was this old martial arts game on Genesis. I used to sit and try to figure out how to play it. You start in this huge training village and can pick all different arts to pursue. I was always at the kendo dojo, hahaha. I can't remember how old I was back then, though, but, the game definitely helped lay a foundation for my pursuit of the art now.
