"Dungeons and Dragons" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0190374/ that wasn't enough about D&D for me, more just fantasy.

The "Dragon God" movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0406728/ was too muck like the game. I half way expected to hear a voice say "roll a saving throw against...." or "my alignment is chaotic neutral."

Did you notice that Mari Weiss has a voice credit? Suppose that is a relation to Margaret or just coinsidence?

From the link provided:
"A barbarian woman with a miraculous healing staff gains the help of a group of to-be heroes as an army of dragons invades the land."

Even though I love the barbarian flick genre, i'm not very hopefull on this one.
I smell copious waves of bad cgi.

Its gonna be an Animated film...its got a pretty cool voice cast...Phil LaMarr is in it...he's Hermes in Futurama, as well as the kid who gets shot in the face in the car in Pulp Fiction.

I personally loved the first Dragonlance books. Unfortunately I don't think they will be able to do it justice. I mean, how many of the books are they going to cover? Also, what styling would they choose? I LOVE the original covers to the Chronicles and Legends. THAT to me is how Dragonlance should look like. I DETEST the new art stylings they've replaced it with.

In the end though, it's going to be the voices of Raistlin and Tass that do it for the hardcore fans, imo. Keifer Sutherland might pull off Raist but Jason Marsden as Tass, I'm not so sure...

I smell copious waves of bad cgi.
It's going to be animated, so hopefully they won't overwhelm the animation w/ cgi. Heck, hopefully the animation will be good period.

Now if they could animate it like the boys who did Appleseed...then again...the budget isn't big...so maybe it'll be good storyline

wow, with all the disappointment over transformers movie, this may actually be worth getting more excited over. although i criticize transformers for attempting to be live action instead of animated, i actually think a dragonlance movie could easily be made in live action. but ill take it as animated if done right i suppose. because to me, the characters of dragonlance were so much more real, human that its simply not a stretch to see it with real actors.

anyway, if youre not familiar with the book and characters, this tagline is simply just a starting link into a pretty crazy storyline that will hopefully carry into all three novels. its not just about barbarians. lots of characters to go into depth with, i doubt they can go into each one of them as books to movies typically go. however, i hope at least they focus on the twins, which is certain.

(waiting for ppl to start trashing dragonlance and talk about how much better WOT is... whatever)

Yeah, I'm only worried they might try to water it down to make it more accessable to the general public...

(waiting for ppl to start trashing dragonlance and talk about how much better WOT is... whatever) Wheel of Time should just be about Mat Couthon...hahahah...Robert Jordon is taking sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo o long to write the series I got bored and gave up...maybe when its finally finished I'll start reading it again.

I still like the Sellswords series with Artemis Entreri the best tho'...hehehehe

My biggest potential problem w/ a Dragonlance movie is what part of the story to base it on. Logically, it should be within the first 3 books of the Chronicles. However, even there there are a lot of missing stories, such as the adventure into Sanction and what nots, that were not covered and maybe covered in other books. There are also various back stories like how Riverwind found the staff, although that may be more dismissible. God, now I feel pathetic for remembering this stuff...

If they try to cover all 3 books in one movie, they're definitely setting themselves up for failure. It sounds like it may be based on just the first book. Unfortunately, I don't see a good way to end it if you base it on just the first book w/o it coming off as "Wait for the sequel!" And if they change the story for a better ending, I'm sure the hardcore fans will NOT be happy. (Me being one of them. )

Toss them? Oh my.

Personally, I loved Dragonlance. Raistlin and Caramon were such a pair. Yea, sure, Tanis was interesting, and the leading ladies were fun too, and I have to confess, Goldmoon's story reminded me a lot of ElfQuest (which I adore as well), but I think aside from Raistlin/Caramon, Sturm was my favorite. There was a short story in "Tales" that was called "By The Measure". Best short story I've ever read, ever. I think that story created my passion for Sturm after having read his story in Chronicles.

Wow, I really need to go reread these books. I miss the Kender !

Anyways, I ain't going anywhere near an animated feature until everyone in the world convinces me I won't cry my eyes out at the travesty over seeing it. But who knows, maybe that day will come and I'll be impressed

I'm pretty sure most of the "missing bits" from the chronicles were coverd in game modules.

well seeing that its titled "Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight", its based on the first book... which means there will be sequels to finish the trilogy. provided im sure its a reasonable success...

im guessing hollywood started knocking on the fantasy doors like they did with all the comic hero to find some marketable storylines after the success of lord of the rings.
