Bad day.
I had a bad day at the dojo yesterday, forgot exercise commands, jumbleds the seiza commands* and performed poorly during practice. School (summer assignments) and other things I've taken up just feel they are piling up on me. Can you guys notice when certain kendo players are having bad days? What do you guys do when you have bad days? Talk about it, I feel like crud still.
*(I don't what those are called, feel free to tell me if those commands have a certain category.) |
This is the sort of thing that happens to everybody every once in a while. Lady Luck just seems to be against you some days. Whenever I notice it happen, all I can do is just continue practice doing the best I can and hope for improvement next time.

I get over it and move on. It is a waste of energy
to focus on failure and the causes of failure. It is a good use of energy to focus on success and how you will change to achieve it more consistently. |
aaww poor you.
but dont feel too bad i have bad days on seminars, they are the worst. look at it as a learning thing if you are jumbling up commands, then take 5 minutes from our studies and sit down and learn them, though you do get them in time consider why you did poorly in keiko and look at correcting yourself next week kendo is after all a hobby, you should be enjoying it, and using it as a break from all the book work. as for the piling up of assignments, get your arse of here and get on with them http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif seriously though, im sure your teachers have told you, make a timetable and stick to it. i used to prioritise my assignments. get those due in first done first. if there are more than one due in on the same date, pick one and do that before doing another one. perhaps do a nice one to get you into it, then a toughy, then a nice easy one to finnish? good luck with it all dude http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/tongue.gif |
cheers mate, we´ve all had bad days, lift yourself from the floor and try again, you´ll have plenty of chances to make it up http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif
I think that most of the times when someone has a bad day, they´re like not really there, maybe finishing those things that prevent you from being fully there would help? I have that problem from time to time =/ ...but what the hell, it has to be done! |
Chin up lil' Donkey! Sometimes these days are put in place to better us. Kendo is like life, good times and bad times. I have a theory it all balances out in the end, but that's just my weirdness.

Question for Ron Fox Sensei, and the other Sensei's out there. How do you judge or look at a student having a bad day. Also does this influence your opinion of him/her.

i usually talk to myself.. 'no Guinness for you tonight.. milk and staright to the bed!'..

Take it easy and take it one day at a time.
Things will get better. I will take my own advice, as I had a pretty awful day at shiai yesterday. My kendo sucks! But gotta keep trying! |
After a bad practice or day, it will sometimes stick with me for a bit. Fortunately, there is a little time between practices for me, so I can recover a bit mentally and hopefully show up fresh next time.
Some of my best practices come after a bad day or week. |
