To say it's one of the best schools in the world is a bit of an overstatement don't you think. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they’re a mcgym, but... man that's one cheesy intro

I've got some serious problems with the site, he's called "grandmaster", I really hope he didn't write the text of site. And who are those 40 world champions? I'm not kicking him down, I'm really curious, not even the big gyms in the Netherlands like Mejiro have produced that many champions and we are a nation with a serious amount of good kick boxers (including MT).

At least he has real fighters, so it's definitely worth checking out.

I think that there might have been too much flaming here: from what I read, I think that mancubus73 made a fast google search, found a website, and because he wasn't sure the site was good, asked his question here. The lack of human contact caused by internet, plus a mistake in the way he expressed his question caused the following flaming. And mancubus73 apologized for the offence caused.

The "pilling on the newbies" thread should have been read. I'm not sure this thread give a good image of the kendo/kumdo community.
thx man http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif

mancubus73,
Please try and be aware of the fact that you're getting mildly flamed because of your attitude, not your inquiries. This is NOT a kid's chat room, so we would greatly appreciate it if you would not treat it as such. Research your subjects. Coherently form your questions. Take the time to use proper spelling and punctuation in your responses. If you cannot be bothered to do that, I'm afraid that the people on this forum will either continue to give you a hard time, or simply ignore you completely.

For what it's worth, I believe that the Desert Wind Dojo teaches kendo out in Las Vegas, but I've never actually talked with anyone from there.

i dont care what you think. theres nothing wrong with my attitude. I dont treat is as a kids chat room. theres no need to worry and spelling and punctuation on the net if it gets the question or the point across. I highly doubt that anyone really cares about my grammar in responses. I know that desert wind teaches kendo, they dont seem very sporty and serious so i was concidering joining kumdo to get training instead, which is where i brought up the subject. cool your jets and if your not gonna help then get off the topic

i dont care what you think. theres nothing wrong with my attitude. Well, I thought I was being quite reasonable in trying to assist you, but I guess that's not what you're after. Well, can't say I didn't try. I'm always glad when school starts back up in the fall though. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

PLONK!

tilmprarnerit 07-06-2007 04:56 PM

i think the kumdo problem, isn`t really a problem, i have chilean sensei, korean sensei and japanese sensei... and really the mix of the ''3 kinds'' of kendo... do a very good job togheterhttp://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/smoker.gif. i think this is just a kendo-political problem between japan and korea, nothing more.

From Kindergaten ???

Just incase you don't understand Kindergarten, this is the meaning of Kindergarten..

"form of education for young children which serves as a transition from home to the commencement of more formal schooling. Children are taught to develop basic skills through creative play and social interaction. "

I find that kumdo tends to be more sport and focused on winning at any costs but not all kumdo dojos and for some people they like that philosophy better, personally i am more traditional.

Do they not have an exit exam in Las Vegas? Trust me, people care about punctuation and spelling. You sound like a stupid child, and no one will take you seriously. Have you tried going to this Desert Wind Dojo? Do yourself a favor, quickly find out the highly respected people of this forum and try not to piss them off. Mr. Smith is one of those people on this forum that you don't want to piss off.

I think this is also because a lot of kumdo dojangs are run by senseis who runs the dojo as a career. From what I've heard, most kendo dojos are taught by senseis teaching as a hobby. I would want my students to win a lot too if I was trying to make a living from teaching kendo.

And *Some* not all senseis that have a dojo for a living they have to work on getting alot of people to train and the ones that do it for a hobby just work on training the ones they have.
