brraverishhh 09-18-2007 09:00 PM

英語使わんとあかんわ。

Evoncalabbalo 09-18-2007 09:03 PM

My bet's on non-Japanese.

Proodustommor 09-18-2007 09:06 PM

kendokamaxの言うとおりです。日本語が出来るメンバーはあまりいないですよ。
*EDit: that's what I was thinking by the way this person writes but I will give him or her a chance.

He states, that he is new to the discussion and wants to chat about kendo.

My question is "is this a native speaker or someone wanting to dabble in Nihongo"?

acneman 09-18-2007 09:10 PM

You know, it's sort of rude to write only Nihongo on a primarily English speaking forum.
Translations would be appreciated for the Kanji retarded.

his profile is kind of strange, state occupation as "Kendo Family/House", and his interests are kendo movement.

The forum name is strange too, I gather it means "unusual birth". My bet is on a non-Japanese Osu-Osu. Osu Osu is a term I have found relating to Asian challenged people trying a little too hard to be Asian.

How knows?

You say that like it's a bad thing.

It is!

I was referring to non-Asians trying to adopt a cultural role that is not related to the real culture they are trying to copy.

Oh yeah, :-)

I think he/she's a little more sophisticated than that. Your "kendo house" is kendoka and there's nothing wrong with that, although a rather uppity thing to call yourself. And the name doesn't mean unusual birth, it means "reborn" and there's nothing wrong with that either.

I'm more going by the fact that there are a couple of spelling mistakes and that someone of this kid's age in Japan would hardly be able to resist the urge to toss in some random English here and there. But clearly they are not bad at Japanese - maybe it's just someone with the equivalent language ability of half the native English-speakers we see hear (although I still suspect that his/her Japanese was not learned as a complete native speaker).

Internet sleuthing, only for the bored...

Oh yeah, forgot about that little gem!

Abaronos 09-18-2007 09:28 PM

Well, his Japanese isn't incorrect exactly.... His name means rebirth/ reincarnation. His occupation is Kendoka, not family or whatever. His hobbies are kendo, exercise, and studying.... It's just kind of weird, Japanese just don't talk like that in my experience. You would more likely see an attempt at conversing in English than just outright Japanese from the get go.

denyffishh 09-18-2007 09:28 PM

Uh... nevermind King was already in there. Yeah weird name too.

Cucoulkrory 09-18-2007 09:30 PM

Maybe we should have a Japanese-language sub-forum, for people to practice their Japanese in kendo-related matters?

putza 09-18-2007 09:44 PM

We put that to vote a while back and a lot of people were very against it....

WelcomeMe 09-18-2007 10:00 PM

heh...

boizzones 09-18-2007 10:52 PM

My money's on non-native too.

Since it was on a level that even I could read, I vote for that as well http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif
