Horseplay or "pretend fighting" are not allowed in our school. Weapons are serious business and should be treated as such. They seem legit.

The guy in that video has been discussed on here before (under the "Flames" section). He even joined KW briefly in an attempt to defend himself and spread his swordsmanship. It was epic fail (on his part). But seeing this video never ceases to make me cringe...

OMG!! how can he call that "kenjutsu/iaido"?? no footwork, no body balance, no beauty and I believe he often swung the "katana" using his right hand only even when he grab the katana using 2 hands. LOL

Perhaps you could put it into simple enough terms that my peabrain can finally get it sorted out and understand why it matters what Joe Public or friends/relatives/other non-practitioners think that it is you do?

No worries.

If they know what I actually do and think it: daft/a waste of time/pointless etc that's their view - nothing I can do about it or be worried about. If people want to take the p*ss then that's their problem not mine.

However if they think what that guy does is what I do I would be concerned.

I enjoy iaido immensely and would hope others would see what it actually is and want to take it up themselves, not think it's just a load of ninjer wannabees!

I'm sure I could go on youtube and find all sorts of wacky stuff labelled dance. Am I concerned that the world at large, including people who know me think that is iaido - yes. They can see it's not me; and if they want to know about it properly they can ask.

I feel especially sorry that "students" of this muppet think what they do is iaido.

This doesn't concern me at all, and doesn't affect my practice in the least. It does seem to bother a lot of people though, and that's what I've never really been able to understand.
