Know your body

Long time huh!

People should watch out for any abnormal in your body that may be a sign of something. Lately after practice, I felt my left arm heavy and tireness that I didn't want to use it anymore. It wasn't like that before. After talking to my Sensei, I went to the doctor and to my amaze, I got clog in my arteries near my heart that lead to have two stents to open them up. One was 70% clog and the other was 90% clog. I was lucky to find it out early.

The point is I am only 39 and two young to have it clog as I thought. However, it can happen to any one at any ages even if you do excirse. You might think that sore left arm is the result of kendo but it may be not. Don't ignore the sign of your body trying to tell you something and don't think you are too young for any problem.

I am back to practice normally but I have to keep a good eyes on my health now.

I'm hoping for you this also will be the last time.

It's very frustrating when you can't do what you love

WOW, I'm glad you caught it before something bad happened.

That said, I was wondering, how many visits and stuff did you do before the clog was found?

The reason I ask is my wife has been having discomforts here and there...and as previously, the battery of tests have not found anything, she's pretty much given up on what medicine can do....

Hi DCPan,

First, I had a physical check up with Cholesteron check which came out extremely high which needed to have the drug to knock that crap down. Next I had a stress test and the doctor told me there was something wrong and the only way to find out was going in there. He found 3 clogs site and installed 2 stents. I think my case was straight forward without any complication.

Glad they caught it. Here's to your new and improved health!

Thank you.

My point is tireness of the left arm after practice is common but if it happened at other time, go check it out.

Wow, thanks for posting that lnguyen. We lost our kendo friend June Noh to heart disease not so long ago, and you've given us another important reminder that we have to be vigilant about our health, and listen to what our bodies are telling us. We get used to ignoring pain in kendo, but that's not always a good thing.

Cheers!
