Consider this...........

In a fight between a Grizzly bear and a silver back Gorilla. Who would win? There is no environmental advantage and no weapons. Think about it, ask your freinds. the opinions on this very greatly.

My answer to this question is the same as my answer to all "Who would win" questions:
>I< would

Opposable thumps aren't very useful if you can't pick up a weapon or climb...

Gorilla. I mean, they've been known to tear tigers to pieces; I don't think a bear's going to be much more of a worry.

What?! In zoos?

Also kind of depends if the Bear is the Miyamoto Musashi of the Bear world, or the Richard Simmons of the Bear world.

Ditto for the Gorilla

From the pictures I've seen, their hair wasn't all that different, at least.

This reminds me of that age old question:

Who would win in a cage match, a horse vs 25 monkeys.

CoiI8XIj 02-02-2010 04:55 AM

This reminds me of this scene from the Office.

1stDan,

I talked to my wife, who watches A LOT of nature shows, about this subject last night. She was adamant that the Gorilla would win. I brought up all the points others have brought up but she wouldn't budge. She was steadfast in her opinion that the Gorilla would win.

dexterljohnthefinanceguy 02-02-2010 08:08 AM

OK here in the office one guy brought up a good point. Male gorrila have to assert their dominance and bears only fight for defense. Now that being said maybe the gorilla would be the more aggressive animal, and they do have some pretty scary canine teeth. Maybe this match is more even than I thought.

Speareerfug 02-02-2010 08:45 AM

Hmm, you pass your first iaido exam, and this is all ya got?

Just kidding, and congrats on your new rank.

BTW, I choose the bear, but only because I have never stared down a Silver Back before.

Frinzer 02-02-2010 08:56 AM

Based on the scientific fact that King Kong can dispatch three T-rexes while defending a puny human, I'm going with the gorilla. My logic is unassailable on this point.

autolubitelone 02-02-2010 09:07 AM

King Kong admitted to a sustained period of steroid abuse. His matches will forever carry asterisks in the record books.

dolaBeetCeage 02-02-2010 09:13 AM

I don't think there are rules governing gorilla-giant reptile death matches. Well, other than no eye-gouging. That's always disallowed.

Nzmoafzn 02-02-2010 09:16 AM

The heaviest of silverbacks only weights in at around 550 lb, while the heaviest grizzly can weight more than 1500 lbs...doesn't sound like a fair fight.

Ervntewc 02-02-2010 09:40 AM

Maybe the bear will just sit on the silver back? Like this...

That is so wrong. Supposedly this is a huge debate. Its all over the internet, Just search for it and youll see. One sight i found stated that there was no environmental advantage and the animals were the same size.
Now, ive never been close to either animal but I am a die hard Discovery channel addict. Thats either one small grizzly or one freaking huge gorilla. Either way I think Herchel Walker could take either one.
