suresh - good list - some good efforts in 2009 need appreciation - heard than D.Iman scored a 4 notes song in masilamani...wondering which one it is...the poor MD was telling this on a radio show - i am reminded of raaja saying in a old TV interview - idhai naan sollalainna ungalukku theriyaama pogum...

I forgot the wonderful Hamsadhwani in Azhagar Malai, 'Unnai Enakku'. The other song from the same movie, 'Enna Senjalum' is based on one of Raja's favorite ragam, Mayamalavagowla.

suresh, enna senjalum is MMG alright, but sounds so very unique and different ...

in ramana saranam saranam - the last song 'eppadi paaduveno' by IR is a fantastic vintage abheri - right up the quality of "singara velanae theva" sung by s.janaki...Raaja has done the gamakkams so beautifully ...just loved it....

Yes. The Abheri is sung very well by Raja but the basic tune is that of Papanasam Sivan. Based on 'eppadi padinaro'. The CD also credits it to Papanasam Sivan. The orchestration and singing of Raja is top class.

Maybe we should also list the ragas in 'Ramana Saranam Saranam' album. It starts with Bageshree and the second song seems to be based on Mohanam, when it starts atleast. Then there is a Karaharapriya based song. The Dakshinamurthy tuned song is in Vasantha and the 'Maa Ganga' remake is ofcourse Yamuna Kalyani. Lovely and soothing album.

regarding ramana saranam saranam, apart from those listed already, there is a vakulabharanam number, a nadhanamkriya (MMG) number and a natabhairavi/anandabhairavi number and a harikambodhi number...i may not know the exact lyrics as of now so you can do the "match the following"

'ritu bedha' Not sure if it is just one raga. The first two lines of the charanam indicate Kafi but the first interlude indicates something like Pahadi. In short, I am confused
