Things you wish Kendo did -not- show you... ;P

So.

Anyone have moments that make them facepalm themselves, when they realize something about themselves that seems to go against what they previously believed?

Like... ostensibly, I am a very masculine woman. Butch would absolutely be the right word. So why on earth am I so dang hip swishy...!? HIP. SWISHY!!! Like with every movement! Curses........

Reminds me of a kendo seminar I went to a couple years ago. The leading Sensei was having us work on ashi-sabaki moving side to side and said, "many of you are doing this (leads with hips first, bending at the waist). No, no! Too sexy!"

In the spirit of the question, when I got to college I was pretty dang sure I was born with two left feet. Then by the end of my freshman year, I had learned ballroom dance and was asked to teach classes the following year. Maybe not so much a facepalm moment but more of a who-woulda-thought moment.

A lot of my technique fell apart when I first got into bogu. My first thoughts were "Really?!...Back to the drawing board..."

Oh, like finding out how good I am at making excuses for myself when things don't work out my way?

Ironically, it took yoga to show me I wasn't really "be here now" till now...and I may find that I'm still not here a few years down the road....

Yes, after 12 weeks of training two times per week, we just started to wear our Bogu and the twice we used our armour, I noticed that my technique is not so good anymore. Something to overcome. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif
