A warm welcome to you shalee,

The introductions and welcome forum is just for new members to introduce themselves and be welcomed.

I have moved your post to the beginners forum because I'm assuming that you are a beginner to Buddhism.

Perhaps you'd like to tell us a little more about what has distressed you?

with kind wishes

hi shaylee

start with talking to someone who cares; someone who offers unconditional & impartial human care & friendship

Hi Shaylee, as Aloka said, more information about what has distressed you can lead to better advice.

What has helped me somewhat is to look at the cause of my distress and try to understand it. I feel a lot of raw pain and for awhile, at first, tend to be blinded by it. With a little time I find I can look at the cause, and start to understand it. (However, my brain is wired to try to understand things; please know this does not work for everyone).

As to Buddhist teachings, try to realize that your distress is temporary like all things in life. (Yes, this is incredibly difficult sometimes.) Try to acknowledge it, then let it go.

With kind regards,
monkey
