Buddhanet is much better, has more information and isn't run by an organisation in the same way.

There's also a Buddhist Studies section on the site.

Hi Scottish,

Go to "Buddhism for Beginners" forum here and check out the links we have there like "What is Buddhism" and "On The Four Noble Truths" by Tamara Engle.

This can also be a good reading to get started:

"An Outline of Buddhism"

Thank You:) what is buddah's view on forgiveness?? as i said i've done a LOT of stupid crap over the years when out of it on booze...

For forgiveness, you start with yourself through loving kindness meditation (metta) - there is a link here on the forum for that but I can't seem to find it right now (http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/sad.gif ) I'm sure someone else may be able to offer the link at some stage http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/hands.gif

You may also like to use the search box at the top of the page, as you will find lots of threads relating to forgiveness that may be of interest to you. Here's one to get you started: forgiveness

Hi Scottishpacfan,

Its possible that investigating this website "Buddhist Recovery Network " might be helpful for your difficulties with alcoholism and they also seem to have a discussion forum there:

Thank You i aim at cutting down as i have learned from past "I'm stopping all together" attempts i feel backed against a wall but aiming for cutting down may be easier and calmer if that makes any sense?
